Re: Engine Removal

Ditto on the long extension from the passenger side. I used 3 or 4 extensions in tandem, and then went 'fishing' for that bolt. If i remember correctly it was a 18mm. Have a breaker bar ready too. All other bolts should be accessible from the driver side.

Disconnect the PS pump with hoses from the ...

Re: Passed smog, still on original cat!!

Yep, gotta give props to GM for making a great, long lasting product. I don't know many manufactuers that could say that their cats and emissions equipment still function to spec after 20 years!

Passed smog, still on original cat!!

Rebuilt Motor 3 years ago (collapsed lifter); O2, plugs not touched. Original Catalytic Converter!

I think credit goes to the Seafoam treatment done 2 days prior, with ~100miles driven afterwords.

Re: Suspension Questions

For whatever reason my Monroe's didnt last that long. They were great for awhile and really brought the sportiness of the car back. I tow and do spirited driving so maybe they gave out prematurely.

I've been running AC Delco OEM replacements now for a few months any theyve been great, well worth ...

Hey everyone, I have a mandatory emissions test coming up soon. Two years ago my numbers were borderline, I recall the tech recommending to idle the car a several minutes before achieving passing numbers.

So to save myself the embarrassment and do my part for the environment, I've been looking at ...

@Jrs3800 - Ya ive heard nothing but good things about monroe and its reputation. I wonder if i got a bad batch. I do recall the two rears I got had same p/n but different packaging, even the metal tube housing wasn't ...

replacement strut advice needed......not happy with monroes

Greetings all, looking for some advice on a recent suspension overhual job. With a newly rebuilt engine and trans a few years ago, I'd to get the best ride I can. Last summer I replaced both front and rear springs and struts, using these parts:

Front spring: moog CC658
front strut: monroe sensatrac ...

Re: Twilight Sentinel Problem ('93 Park Ave.)

Our twilight sentinel is not cutting the headlights on at night promptly. It takes a long, long time for it switch on in the dark. If we go under an underpass, or thru a tunnel....the lights in that venue will cut the headlights off, and then they won't come back on again for miles after you get ...

Re: rear coil spring removal

Will, Ill go for the compressors, I wonder why the service manual doesn't call for them...

If I do the compressors, I likely will not need to remove the control arm bolts correct? I would prefer not to if I don't have to.

Jr, I am replacing the springs and struts, my bonne has the original ...

Re: Odometer stopped working

My trip odometer stopped working at about 225k miles, however the regular odometer continued to work. Im guessing one of the gears/wheels wore out.

I believe the odometer gets its input from the Vehicle speed sensor, which measures the rotations from the output shaft of the transmission. Is the ...

Re: FE2 upgrade questions

Finding better sways isn't impossible, watch for people parting out SSE/i's on here from 92-99. Definitely get poly urethane endlink kits regardless if you upgrade or not.

Swapping out the front one is a PITA. I'd recommend doing rear only to save a lot of time, and to increase turn-in on the car ...

FE2 upgrade questions

First off, quick update (and reasoning for spending more money on my bonne):

After a collapsed lifter, engine was fully rebuilt (for fun!), all new surfaces.

Soon After a failed 1-2 sprag, transmission rebuilt.

She's back in action, lots of fun to drive.....minus the suspension.

250k miles and ...

Re: Pulley on the drive belt shredded on an L27

Sounds like the idler pulley failed. I just replaced mine because it was squeaky. Its about $20 for the replacement. Use a closed ended wrench if you can. Keep in mind it is a reverse thread bolt. Be sure to bring in the old one for size comparison, the two auto parts stores I went to had different ...

AC compressor on all the time

I recently had trouble with my knobs on my HVAC vent selector being tough to rotate. I blew some dry graphite lubricant in the knob assembly and it helped.

Now I notice the AC compressor is running in all selector positions, except for off. It cycles like it should.

anyone ever heard of this?

I ...

HVAC control knobs

Hello Everyone, I have the manual HVAC control setup, the vent selector knob (right most) has been getting harder and harder to turn. So hard sometimes when its cold in the morning I don't force it for fear it will break. When it does turn, it twists beyond the designated "steps" to get to the ...
