Odometer stopped working

Post by milty »

Last night on the way home from work I set my trip odometer and noticed it was not counting up - I also noticed the mileage odometer has also stopped. Is this a small band that has given out? Or something else? Is it a bitch to fix? Buried behind the dash? Car has about 150,250 miles on it - 1993 model

Thanks....Milty

Hmm, it might be related to your ABS failure. IIRC, it's the wheel speed sensors(s) that feed into the odo. Get the ABS scanned and see what turns up.

Though maybe I'm wrong and it's the sensor for the speedo that indirectly feeds the odo, but then the speedo wouldn't work... I'm not sure. :dontknow:

My trip odometer stopped working at about 225k miles, however the regular odometer continued to work. Im guessing one of the gears/wheels wore out.

I believe the odometer gets its input from the Vehicle speed sensor, which measures the rotations from the output shaft of the transmission. Is the speedometer still working properly?

Speedometer is working. I'll find time this weekend to pull codes and post my results.
