Twilight Sentinel Problem ('93 Park Ave.)
Our twilight sentinel is not cutting the headlights on at night promptly. It takes a long, long time for it switch on in the dark. If we go under an underpass, or thru a tunnel....the lights in that venue will cut the headlights off, and then they won't come back on again for miles after you get out of the tunnel. New switch, sensor, module??

Re: Twilight Sentinel Problem ('93 Park Ave.)
i have similar problems, but i have concluded that mine are due bad connections at module.
you could try this; put something on dash to cover the solar sensor at driver side of the defroster outlets. then the headlights should be on all the time- and try with that to see if they are coming on as they should. if they dont lighten up with cover, there could be problem with module or solar sensor.
My buick loses hi beam after driving 30 minutes or so, but when i poke under dash towards the module they come right up. module is located inside dash, right behind the twilight sentinel switch, so you need to reach for it under dash- i have my under-dash covers removed so that i can do so. this is no permanent fix, i know... but i need to drive every day and life is at its always...busy

Does the delay control work? IIRC it only controls the delay to time on. On the older (like my '89 PA) cars it is a dimmer like the one for the interior lights, and if they were making intermittant contact they would turn the lights on and off randomly.

2 separate switches....and 'when' the twilight sentinel works...the delay works just fine.

I experienced similar symtoms in the past. From what Ive seen over the years on the forum, as our twilight sentinal sensor gets older, it needs darker and darker light to trigger. For the last 5 years ive used progressivley more and more post it notes covering the light sensor to "trick it" into activiating the headlights at the ideal lighting conditions. Last summer it stopped working all together
If you can find a replacement sensor (junkyard?) I think that would be the best bet to get it working again.
Good luck
