I just order the zzp cam install kit tonight, so my plans for installing my S1X over spring break are for sure now. I will also be adding compcams lifters, lightweight pushrods, YT 1.6 roller rockers, Compcams 105# springs, Manley retainers, and a Rollmaster Timing set. I've read through the techinfo article, but I was wondering if I am missing anything else that I might need during the install. I got the option 4 which includes the cam and crank bolts as well as the VC gaskets.

Make sure you have a compressor and fittings to hold the valves closed to do the springs. Depending on how far you want to go, you could also do the SC oil and coupler since it is off the car. Also a good time to replace the water pump if it has never been done.

Have you done the aluminum LIM gaskets yet?

LIM gaskets were done last spring, but obviously they'll be getting replaced again. This will be the third time I've torn a L67 down to do the LIM gaskets, so that part I'm not worrited about. I forgot to add that I also have a ZZP P & P Supercharger housing. So that makes does the coupler and oil even more of a good idea. How hard is the coupler? Any special tools needed?

Also, which valve spring compressor tool should I get, it seems like there are a bunch of different styles? Is the one in your write up the easiest to use?

no special tools for the coupler. a few small bolts and it is off. Intense sells the coupler, oil, and red gasket material in a kit.

That cam swap (in the Techinfo article) happened at my house. That spring compressor is the best style to use when compared to the lever type, as the rear bank can be troublesome and tight for the lever sticking out. I have two other types other than the one Matt pictured, but that one is the best type. The most expensive, but the best.

I'll plan on doing the coupler as well. I already have some oil, is that gasket material something I can get locally? If so all i really need is the coupler.

I'm going to check out sears this for a valve spring compressor, they have them online for $33 so I'll probably end up getting that one.

you need 8 oz of oil, 2 dealer bottles or 1 intense bottle. any gasket maker is fine.

I'm starting this tomorrow, however I procrastinated on getting a coupler, I don't suppose those are available locally anywhere are they? I will probably just leave it for now if I can't get one, it's not like it would take long to pull the SC later to do it.

Dealer might be able to get you one, but it'll cost you.

I might check, because shipping from ZZP or Intense is expensive if I'm just ordering that, and as much as I'd like to order more goodies to make it worth it, thats not a good idea.

The odds of a dealer having a coupler are EXTREMELY slim. There was only a short period of time dealers were even allowed to swap nosedrives. Typically, GM only allows a full supercharger swap.

Order the coupler and oil from INTENSE or ZZP now, and do that later.

Ok I'll plan on doing that. My question it to swap the rotors and nosedrive over to a different housing would require the oil to be drained correct? I have never pulled an M90 apart, so I'm not exactly sure how they go together. I will be installing a Ported/polished ZZP housing, but if that requires draining the oil, I'm going to leave that until I get the coupler.

When you swap, it dumps. You want to suck as much out as possible.

I just remembered you had that link. I'll spend some time reading up on it so when the time comes I'll have an idea of what to do.

Another question, whats the different between the two couplers that ZZP offers? One is $30 the other is $15, is one just the stock and the other is a updated version?

Yup. They will both probably outlast your car.

Travis had 300k on his original coupler with no wear.
