Doesn't sound like you had the best of luck. Should have done some more digging on engines, as there are (6) +05 l26 engines w/ less than 75k for >$250 in the area; perfect for a top end swap. 2 engines with less than 50k.

Update: I wasn't able to finish getting the new engine in last weekend because I had to be back in Grand Forks, so I drove my mom's Lucerne for a week since she was gone to Florida.

I went back home this weekend, and finished installing new gaskets and all that, got it in and running. Only a couple minor issues that needed ironing out. First was I had the 3 and 5 plug wires mixed up so it had a bad misfire when I first started it. Made me nervous, but I quickly figured it out. The other thing was a small coolant leak that i fixed today.

I've put about 300 miles on it already, and I am happy with what I got. I think as long as I am nice to it, the engine will last me long enough until I can afford a low miles engine...L32 swap maybe. We'll see though.
