Re: Does your state have inspection?

Check engine light on and you fail. Light bulb out, you fail.

And your point is???!!!

Yeah, I agree it's a minor pain in the a$$. But it's NOTHING like the Bad Old Days in NJ. If you're from North Jersey (like I am) I am sure you have visited the Lodi inspection station at least one time in your ...

Re: water pump recommedations

hi,

i have been intermittently hearing a very "dry" sound coming from the engine and i pulled the belts yesterday to check the water pump. yup, seems wiggly. i have the time to change it this week and wonder if there is a preferred replacement water pump to use or if any unit from a jobber is fine ...

If you've never done a proper brake system flush & refill...now is the time. Not too costly and worth every cent. Look for synthetic brake fluid.
Have you noticed how Brake Fluid is labeled now?

One more thing to check is the little weep hole for the A/C system. My mom and dad had a Malibu that leaked from the little fitting, it dripped condensation onto the carpet.
Hate for you to tear out the heater core when its something like that!!

That weep hole was/is the a/c evaporator drain ...

Re: Check Your Tires!!

Just checked the tires in my car, they were all at 28 psi, and I had them at 34 psi a month ago, when it was 40-50 degrees outside. Goes to show how much they can lose.
Yep! Mine lost 4 psi since I last checked them and the air temps were warmer. But when I arrive in Florida I'm sure I'll gain a ...

Dexron III vs Dexron VI

I thought I'd start a new thread on Dexron Transmission fluids. These articles by Jack Zakarian, have some very good information. He explains the different Dexron III specs of "G" and "H". He also explains why GM probably went from Dexron III to VI.

Re: bonnie becomming a classic

Today I was thinking.... Is there a diff between a classic and a collectable?

Here's a post from Kevin in the 1992-1999 section.

Yes, I have 6 and a 2000 GP. I started with the 98 sle then the 98 se then the 02 ssei then the 03 ssei then the 98 sse then the 98 ssei. 3 of the 98's are dark ...

Re: brake system flush?

These quicky-lube-tire-fixer-upper places scare the crap out of people. While I am sure it's not a bad idea to flush/bleed the brake system with new fluid after 2 or 3 years, I don't trust anyone that drops in this "test strip" that "proves" the fluid is bad. And tells you that this is going to ...

Re: Winter Season Tires!!

I'm running the Michelin X-Ice on the VW and Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50 on the Vibe (both Q-rated tires). When they prevent me from sliding into the some immovable object in the snow (than regular all-season tires), that's my definition of a high performance snow tire. Don't leave home (in the winter ...

Re: sludge is your friend sometimes

Everybody has there opinion and no one is really wrong. My $.02 was to change the xmision fluid and filter every other year or 30,000 miles with Dexron III. My previous H-Bodies never pulled any loads up steep mountain grades in the summer so I did not see any need for a trans cooler. Just changing ...

You could go with KYB P/N 235025 with Strut Boot Kit #SB128. And you will have a "normal" rear suspension. It's not a difficult job for one person. Of course if you had a second person hold the shock in place while your threading the nut onto the top of the ...
