Re: Crunchy Brake pedal (teves)

I just went out and unplugged the abs controller fuse. The pulsing went away. Just the ABS light is on now. Ill have to take the wheels off and find out which sensor is dirty or not working anymore.

Re: Crunchy Brake pedal (teves)

I have a scanner that jumps 2 pins to make the abs light flash the codes, will that work? I have 4 new tires all the same size. The car gets a bit squirrely when this brake thing happens. Ill have to check the sensors.

Crunchy Brake pedal (teves)

This started when I began driving this car in the spring. Every other time that I apply the brakes there is a sound like a perkolating coffee pot and the pedal surges and feels like im stepping on gravel. The pedal moves higher and higher until it clears and the pedal goes back down to normal. The ...

98 ssei strut sag

My dads 98 SSEI has blown rear shocks. They had the performance handling package struts. Will standard struts return the car to its original ride height? It seemed to sit low because the auto level system didnt work and hes hoping that he doesnt haev to put air shocks back in for the car to sit ...

Re: anybody have experience with these?

I think that they might hurt sound more than help it. Those would be great if you were trying to deflect water off of the speaker. Mose 6x9 speakers are designed to be be used without a box or enclosure. This means that if you put them in something with a small volume it will basically choke off ...

Re: cd player?

It sounds to me like you have your constant battery positive voltage wired, but not the switched wire. These Class 2 Data radios do not have a switched voltage circuit in the factory flatwire connector for the radio.

That is what I think too. With the constant wire hooked up, a lot of cd players ...

Re: radio controls

Most reputable shops should be able to order the data harness for your car. In my opinion it is always best to upgrade the headunit. If you are going aftermarket, decide what deck you want, then find the correct steering wheel adaptor that either plugs into, or hardwires to the aftermarket stereo ...

Re: Retrofitting a Class 2 Data Radio Into a 93 Pontiac Fire

How did you simulate the Class II data bus connection? The deck gets a data signal to turn on, a standard switched accessory power will not work.

Re: Seized s/c valve?

Thats what I was thinking as well. If it is stuck in the down position does that mean I am getting boost all of the time, or none of the time?

Seized s/c valve?

We bought a 97 SSEi to replace my moms 96 SE and we are getting it all cleaned up for spring. When we took off the engine cover to clean there is this arm sticking out of the s/c near the throttle body that is attached to a vacuum diaphragm. The arm was seized solid in the down position. We took it ...

Re: switched wire under dash

Not ALL yellow wires are for switched power, theres a yellow starter wire ;) A lot of little orange wires are constant, but dont go from a thin wire for your sirius. Either use the yellow from the back of the deck, or the Orange wire coming from the ignition switch. Almost every GM product uses the ...

Re: 03 SE Aftermarket Stereo Adapter

There is a ground and constant power in the harness. The data module creates the door chime and gives you a switched accessory (red wire) that will make your deck turn on and off just like the factory unit, with retained accessory power (RAP) and all that. You can run your own power and ground, and ...

Re: 97 ssei, low on power

Ive only driven the car once, and for about 3 minutes. I was more curious than anything. I just expected a bigger differance from her SE. Its light grey and has leather AL7s. I think shes going to have to get an intake then. and a pulley. What good is an s/c if you cant hear it :P

97 ssei, low on power

My mom just bought a 97 SSEi to replace her 96 SE. It has 245,000 kms on it. I took it for a drive today and it didnt seem to have any more power than the 96. The boost guage reads about 20% over 0 kpa, yes its in kpa not psi. Where should the boost needle be at WOT? I didnt hear much of a whine ...

Re: emissions : FAIL :(:(:(

My engine only has one sensor. That makes me think even more that the O2 is controlling my fuel more than anything. I bought a new O2 today. Its bosch, I heard theres problems with our engines and the bosch sensors. I paid 25 bucks so Im not complaining. I did an oil change today too so that should ...

Re: boost-ablility

I have been thinking toward the idea of having a 95 powertrain like you said, then converting it to turbo later if i choose to. I plan to do a remote turbo installation anyway so I wont have to pull the motor again. I have a question about PCMs though. What will happen if a turbo is used with the ...

Re: boost-ablility

Say for example I found a 95 SSEi donor car and converted it to turbo the way you said, what kind of tuning changes would have to be made to the PCM? Since its already set up for boost would it be usable as is? Would the vacuum lines have to be moved to the inlet of the turbo now that the manifold ...

Re: boost-ablility

I didnt post those vids to make excuses to turbo my car. I wanted to know the feasibility of it, which I now know is next to nothing, which led me to ask about what WOULD be feasible. I just found them and thought that it was very interesting. I know he used an L67 block with a OBD2 computer and a ...
