Re: cd player?
Sounds like an issue with your radio... do you have any AM/FM signal at all? can you hear the actual radio? is it JUST the cd player?

Re: cd player?
If you suspect it's in the wiring, i'm almost positive everything is color coated for ease of use on those harnesses. i know my harness for our '99 ville, the '96 blazer, and the '90 S10 are all the same, and all color coated.voller1410 wrote:no it wont turn on at all im gonna look at the wiring alittle more
I suspect you had to buy the alarm adapter, or whatever it is called?

Re: cd player?
Actually technically coated or coded is right. Is it coated with color, because it's the outer layer. It's also coded because the FSM will refer to the color so it's a coding to reference. Either way is good. Grammatically correct either way :-)

Re: cd player?
chances are something is wired wrong.. I'd triple check them.
After that, is the deck new? could be defective if used. If new, try exchanging it.

True, but almost all wire are color coated, even if they're not color coded.ChilinMichael wrote:Actually technically coated or coded is right. Is it coated with color, because it's the outer layer. Like I said though, unless the deck itself is defective, something must be wired wrong. I'd take them all off and start over.

One of our goals on this Forum is to make sure people post in a manner that everyone can understand. Proper spelling and grammar are keys to this. There is a NOTICE regarding this.voller1410 wrote:lol who cares about the color coated or whatever...i want to figure out how to get it to work
Please tell us the brand and model of the head unit, and the brand and part number of the wiring harness adapter you used.

They do not mean the same thing! Just because wires are coated with color, does not mean it's color coded.GMC Guy wrote:Conan the Grammarian strikes again!!ChilinMichael wrote:Actually technically coated or coded is right. Re: cd player?
It sounds to me like you have your constant battery positive voltage wired, but not the switched wire. These Class 2 Data radios do not have a switched voltage circuit in the factory flatwire connector for the radio.
THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT.

Re: cd player?
Well, basically that is the problem in the dac. It is the possiblitiy to check out the CD player and required to replace it. The reason is that its key of the functionality is damaged.

That is what I think too. With the constant wire hooked up, a lot of cd players will eject cds, but thats it. Measure the red wire coming off of the data harness for power when the key is on ON or ACC. I have had faulty data harnesses that do not output an accessory signal. Alternately, you could run a wire to the Retained Accessory relay. (Some GMs have them. I am not sure if these cars do) If you hear a click in a fuse panel somewhere when the factory radio turns on, that is it.
