Re: No "key in ignition" chime or "headlights on" chime

Okay. Sounds like it could be faulty for sure. There was a bit of water in the floors, no surprise but it wasn't horrible. I have corrected that issue. Any idea where that class 2 serial dara line is? I would be interested in getting the IPM from you. If you can PM me I 'll get you my email. I don't ...

Re: No "key in ignition" chime or "headlights on" chime

Do you think the IPM may have anything to do with not being able to dim the dash lights? I drove the car for the first time at dusk today and the dimmer would not work. After a while though it did and at the same time the lights in the door controls came on Lol

Re: No "key in ignition" chime or "headlights on" chime

Hey there, thanks for posting that. It's probably beyond my diagnostic capabilities since I don't have a scan tool or really how to use one so I may have to live with it

No "key in ignition" chime or "headlights on" chime

2001 Bonneville I read somewhere this is often a dead front speaker but both up front are working fine with the radio. Does anyone have knowledge regarding this issue or a suggestion what to check next? Thanks in advance

Re: 2000+ Common Problems & Solutions (updated 5.11.11)

Thanks for your response! Sorry I didn't check till now.

You are right I'm sure. :) I don't think I was trying it like that! I believe my '99 is different because I tried doing it the same way. I will let you know.

I found butyl windshield sealant on amazon but the only size I could manage was 8mm ...

The FSM said 107 ft. Lbs I think I did 110.Should that be sufficient?

Re: 2000+ Common Problems & Solutions (updated 5.11.11)

First, thanks again for these solutions to these problems! A fantastic resource.

Two questions.

1.Regarding the sunroof problems, I am assuming the vent position is where the glass is tipped up in the rear? Mine will not tip up. It doesn't even try. No motor sounds, nothing. I bought a sunroof ...

new axle nut required?

I'm doing a front wheel bearing on my '99 Bonneville. When I did CV axles on my Montana they came with a new nut and I used them, but I realized the new bearing didn't come with one. Is this not a torque to yield bolt? I don't think the FSM said to replace it.

Re: master cylinder lines

Sorry I missed your response. I was unable to get the MC lines on the ABS pump free and the weather was not cooperating. This time I relented and had my mechanic do it at the station. Just so I understand, you would push the pedal until it firms up and hold it down with a stick or something? I was ...

master cylinder lines

I need to replace both master cylinder lines. I've never removed the lines from there on any car, only have done brake hoses, calipers and pressure bleeding. My question is will fluid simply just come out or will air be sucked in? I have something to plug the master so as to not lose too much fluid ...

Bubbling/flaking paint on the underside of the hood

2001 Bonneville. This is not something new, I know it's fairly common. I had the same problem with my 2001 Montana before it spread to the top surface and most of the paint peeled off. I just acquired this Bonneville and the problem is contained to the underside and I'd like to keep it that way ...

Re: Bonneville Engine Identification

Thanks. The gaskets look like they have been done recently, I can see the metal frames clearly but the coolant elbows no. Easy enough, I have done it a few times on other cars. No clue how many miles this engine has and when I need parts will have to remember 1997. Just crazy to think the original ...

Re: Bonneville Engine Identification

Well, if that is the case I have no clue of the maintenance history. There was timely service indicated for the life of the car at the same dealer on the Carfax, not that you can trust Carfax for everything obviously but was definitely encouraging, now no clue what I'm dealing with. It does have the ...

Bonneville Engine Identification

I am hoping someone can help me determine if I have the correct year engine in a 2001 SSEi I just acquired. I was thinking that just the supercharger was swapped at one point because it has the earlier year M90 with the vacuum tube thing near the boost valve and the wrong throttle body but as I work ...

Re: Incorrect Supercharger on 2001 SSEi?

Ok, thanks for the routing diagram! Same for my 00 Ultra and the 99 SSEi. Since my last message I read that the 98 and earlier blocks do not have the locator pin holes on the sides for the long gasket pieces but probably can't identify that with intake on. Also, apparently the earlier intakes did ...

Re: Incorrect Supercharger on 2001 SSEi?

Thanks for responding. Is there a way to tell if the engine has been swapped? I didn't consider that. The vacuum ports have hoses attached there but nothing looks right. If those were capped and the other lines run properly that blower would be okay? The lines are in terrible shape and it has a bank ...
