new axle nut required?

I'm doing a front wheel bearing on my '99 Bonneville. When I did CV axles on my Montana they came with a new nut and I used them, but I realized the new bearing didn't come with one. Is this not a torque to yield bolt? I don't think the FSM said to replace it.

It is technically a one-use nut. I've replaced and I've reused them. Granted I haven't put thousands and thousands of miles on it since, but all seems well.

I've done like 8 wheel bearings on the front of my 2003 by this point. Including 3 passenger side axles. Still using the original nuts at almost 230k miles.

I'm going to say this only because it's not mentioned.. Make sure you torque it to spec so that the wheel bearing is preloaded properly.

Yes it is very important to torque that wheel bearing nut.
Torque is 118 ft.lbs.
I like to torque it with the vehicle on the ground so the full weight of the vehicle is on it.
Also I always use the same nut that I took off.
I will use the new nut when I replace the axle assembly.(nut is supplied with the new axle)

The FSM said 107 ft. Lbs I think I did 110.Should that be sufficient?

I've always seen 118 wherever I've looked so that's what I stick with.

Sadly, all the wheel bearings available are garbage, so get used to changing them if you plan on having the car for a while. I'm down to 15 minutes a wheel bearing at this point.
