my mechanic has already said that he will be removing the PLog to get to the bolt, then reattach it.

seeing that it is the front and not the rear, I imagine it would be easier to get to.

Yeah he should be ok. It's a good thing it didn't break way inside the block...

New rule, don't let Matt near the rusty bolts that may snap

I must say, Jovan, you've got one of my favorite 2000's, it all looks great... even if it may be kinda slow :P Those 12.111's are just around the corner though!

Kyle...how difficult was that to do? It looks really, really nice and I would love to do something like that to mine.

It was easy and I'm surprised how many people like it. I did it just to hide water build up.

I put an Intense sticker down, couple layers of VHT nightshades, let it dry, peeled off the sticker, put a few more coats over the whole thing, and ta da!

Deadly, your car almost didn't make it! I was wondering what the hell we might have effed up when it was all put back together....

Stupid strut tower brace...

When we re-installed ED's STB it got put in upside down. For some reason the Alternator was hitting it installed that way, but not flipped around the way it was before. There was 1/2" difference atleast. When it was hitting, it was causing KR all thoughout gear, terrible noises, etc.

humor me........................

if I did have an exhaust leak, it would just be up at the PLog correct? The rear PEM showed no signs of this?

An exhaust leak could have been anywhere, but I remember Ed re-torqued the manifold bolts after the whole freak out.

When I went out to scan your car it was knocking all the time, which is what Jason is probably talking about.

On a stock 00+ SSEi BIN your knock sensors start listening for knock over 50kPa, so I only had to give a little bit of throttle to see 7+* of KR. It was very ugly.

Yup, we could feel it in the cabin, and it was audibly different because of the contact and KR. It was really bad, we went 1/4 mile, turned around and idled back it sounded so bad. :eek2:

well just got back from the mechanic and have been informed that the bolt has bottomed out and will not be able to come out. He said he was at first excited because he could actually see part of the bolt sticking out, but ended up using all available means to no avail, so I have been told to be on the lookout for certain sounds at or around 12,000 miles to signal that the gasket is starting to fail. From my buddy perspective, I have been told I basically have two options:

JB Weld the PLog to the head to seal the area, or.....
find a replacement set of heads to put on the car.

Otherwise the O2 sensor and MAF screen have been changed, the shocks will be done next Saturday.

soooo........................... that's the scoop

addendum...........

Since my mechanic installed a new bolt to attach the oil dipstick housing, I was not able to take pics of what the broken bolt looked like aftermath. These were the only ones I could get.

I am seriously at a loss.. How did he manage to get a bolt part way into the head if a bolt was sticking out... Did he drill the bolt? and tap? Did he try to use an easy out?

I am not really up for the fun of removing a Head/s but I would help you if I was there..

Maybe I'm grumpy, But I would have loved to have had a look at that bolt

I must admit that if there was a bolt sticking out, I would have welded something to it to try to get it out. That's how I got my sparkplug out of my head that I broke two years ago.

I'm guessing he drilled into the bolt and tapped it and bolted it on.

IIRC, that's what he said he did. (memory is a little foggy).

I think it can be removed by some means. If he tapped a bolt into it then he should have the proper tools to remove that stud.
