The problem with TOG's is that they're expensive and hard to come by now that they're out of business.

Sorry to drag this thread off topic, lol.

Huh? Valve float?! I'm good to 6400 rpm ....................with 90 lbs springs and Titanium retainers.

Matt, if I were you I'd just free up the exaust and intake, stay cool with a 180 stat and tune your PCM, then run a 3.4. You'll be good for high 13's or low 14's which is as good as the ol 60's musclecars were running stock and should keep a big grinn on your face. :king:

Lol well I'm sure that will keep me happy. For a while :)

With me just not having time to work with someone who has torn apart a motor I just don't wanna be stuck if I want to add more later. If I cam it now that opens up alot more opportunity to work onthe top end down the road, as well as having a new timing chain put in. The intense level 1 cam package is $1000 I believe which ironically is the same price as the zzp headers and Tog dp will cost installed.

It might be slightly off topic but should prove to be informative to Matt, the author of this post. He is at where I was six years ago.
Asking lots of questions in an attempt to improve the performance of the SSEi.
At the time, I was working on the advice of Todd, who now works for Intense. He was modding his 00 and went all out.
What happens when Intense disappears...or morphs to G8's only(and that won't be long since technology is morphing so quickly and even G8's will be antiquated soon).

If you listen to Haro, we should all go back to stock and sell our cars as classics for the most value cause they're worth as much as a used Yugo now.

I'm fearful that as soon as my PCM craps out, I'll have to go back to stock and be satified with mid 14 sec quarters.......but that aint too bad either. :P

This is to tempting. But the labor cost which will probably be more than the kit is what's gonna kill me :(

I would not get the OER lifters, unless they've been revised, as they have been prone to failing.

The only person I know who has not done the work themselves that can afford to mod these cars, works for Intense......or has a very rich Daddy. [-X

Lol I have seen you talk about your PCM crapping out in a few threads now. It's I little unsettling ;)

As far as off topic goes , it's no big deal at all. I'm just hear to learn and ask questions and everyone who has replied to one o my threads has gave good advice and/or ideas.

Maybe I'll just leave the cam part of it alone unless I get a good labor rate, but otherwise I'll just be working inside the valve covers and possibly a ssic if it gets to that point.

This is fun, exciting and yet depressing all at the same time lol

Ok. Sooooo I had a suggestion from a friend of mine who has been modding the grand prixs for years. He said

Forget the sc and all the expensive mods and throw on a turbo kit With 10 psi

He said they can be had used for about 1500-2000

Thoughs?

The thing is that GP's have pre-made kits. You'd have to modify a GP kit or start from scratch to make it work in your bonnie. Plus I doubt the stock short block would like more than 6-8 lbs of boost. turbossei on here blew his built shortblock one day passing on the highway. I'm gonna stick with the stock S/C configuration. Much better low-end, easier modifications.
