I'm thrilled you made this happen, the car definitely deserved to be saved and I cannot wait to see it in person in June. I'm excited to see your plans for it and I'm happy to hear you and your dad made the trip safely. A few intense moments are to be expected on any long cross country journey.

1oldman: I stand corrected. Born in MO, conceived in MI, probably Warren. I grew up 3 miles from GM's Warren Tech Center. My dad and brother worked in the Dodge Ram truck plant a mile away.

MattStrike: Great story. Maybe I'll get a chance to see your project when she is ready. Reading your story made me recall my 1000 mile odyssey when I coaxed my brother to drive me to Pittsburgh to buy a 1990 Jaguar XJ6. I started the car in his garage and paid the man his money. He asked if I wanted to test drive it first to which I replied, "That's what the next 500 miles are for" and off I went. I loved that car and did a lot of work to it like having an entire interior trucked from Seattle to Detroit. I would still have it had not a 125 year old oak tree decided to lay down on it. That reminds me of another possible discussion thread......bad things that happened to our cars because we didn't listen to our significant others. Great job Matt, you made life long memories with your Dad and you got a great car too!

I will chime in here, and hope Matt puts in his "2 cents". Runs good for a car that ate coolant through the TB for 3 months and has 305,147 original miles on the powertrain. I think it may have caused a valve to stick, but I'm no mechanic and had several that weren't bad mechanics non-committal. The transmission shifts much better than the 4T65E in my '05 SE with 100,000 miles. Has lots of fluid leaks, oil pan gasket, I think a PS hose is leaking (PS leak 0- bad). - BC

I haven't done a downtown investigation on it. But it starts and doesn't make any odd noises and idles smooth.
