I had one of the brake lines on the driver's side frame rail by the trans let go yesterday. Anyone ever replace one of the hard lines with a pair of inverted flare to 3AN fittings and a piece of pre-made 3AN braided brake hose? I'd like to replace all of them with copper-nickel line in the spring, I have the tools and have made lines before but this looks like an easy yet safe way to get back on the road until the weather improves in a couple of months. There's a huge speed shop local to me that stocks all these fittings and hoses.

Sounds like a lot of extra time and money if you're going to be replacing them all anyway. Just get a copper line and replace the whole line and that'll be one less you will need to do come spring. At the very least just replace it with a steel line. I had a line pop on me and I replaced it for $8 total.

Hi, I agree, Fix with coated steel and flare and use union as usual and it will last years and be under 20 bucks for the line

Autozone and/or Advance Auto (can't recall) sell the pre-flared copper nickle lines, have to ask for them. Much easier to work with than steel for guys that don't bend pipe often, and with the pre flared you can typically bend the copper to make the length fit most applications.

You don't want to use (braided) hose for any lengths longer than you have to, it's going to negatively effect brake pedal feel, and too much will cause not enough braking power.

Finally got around to fixing it yesterday. Fortunately it was the one from the ABS pump to the LF wheel so it was the easiest of all of them. Made a new line out of cu-ni and called it a day. It was so painfully cold with the wind that I left the rest alone. If we get a warm spell soon I'll go out and do the rest.
