Gmrc-04 problems. 02 ssei wih monsoon.

Post by Jbro238 »

Hey guys. Been a while! Finally decided to replace my stock uh and havin some problems. So the stock stereo would sometimes work until it cut out and said "Bose" instead of "monsoon" what would cause that? And then I bought a new hu assuming it was the old u it and when I hooked up all the wires to the stereo with the gmrc-04 the unit turned on but wasn't putting out sound to the speakers at all. Was hoping it would be more plug and go. Let me know of any suggestions. Thanks!

There is an input on the back of the head unit and depending on what it sees, it will be "Bose", "Monsoon" or neither. It sounds almost like you have a wiring issue. I'm assuming that you are using that module with an aftermarket radio? I'm not familiar with the module, but some are not compatible with systems that use an external amplifier. Only the SSEi or GXP had an external amp, SE and SLE use the amp built into the head unit.

mine has had problems with this dumb external amp since the very beggining. Im guessing you are right on this. i think i will bypass the amp and run my own and be rid of this ridiculous system once and for all

You can try having a read through this thread... There might be some helpful information there for you as it sounds like this member had the same/similar problem to yours.

You need a GMOS-09 adaptor. The GMRC-04 is not for cars with amplifiers and is not listed for Bonnevilles.
