Re: please help a newbie with a 99 sle(not supercharged)
Change the upper plenum gasket. Same thing happened to my 99SLE. I was loosing coolant and car was loosing power at mid throttle. I don't think you will need a new plenum.

Re: Interior Trim Removal
Make sure you remove the mounting clips (Small rectangular tabs that you remove with small screwdriver...)from the grab handles first. The grab handles WILL break if you don't. I broke all three handles because I got impatient...and their hard to find!

1999 SLE engine suddnely shuts down
With little or no warning my engine shuts down while driving or at rest. I am able to restart after about 2-3 seconds. All my gauges go down or flicker and I have absolutely nothing for the 2-3 seconds. My anti-skid system/light tends to act up before the car shuts down.

Re: 97 Bonneville A/C issue
The back vent is useless. Pushing air from the front, through a myriad of center console controls, was idiotic. I changed my foam in there too but no effect.

Re: Intermittent A/C
I have the exact same issue. My work around is:
Turn on AC and immediatley set FAN SPEED to LOW.
Once you feel cool air flow, then adjust fan higher if wanted.
I found out that I have a weak actuator and the high air flow keeps the diverter door from moving to the cool position. Works every time ...

Re: '99 motor mount (Trans axle) replacement tips?
Thanks Sandrock...ordered the part from RockAuto, $47 shipped! Autozone and Oreillys wanted $61+tax.
I wasn't about to remove the frame but I was surprised the shop manual said to. I just had it on jacks too...replaced the whole front end, the alignment guy found the bad mount.

'99 motor mount (Trans axle) replacement tips?
Thanks for helping,
I'm getting ready to replace the front left trans-axle mount (with the small shock attached to it). Any tips on replacing this? I have the Bonneville shop manual but it says to remove the engine frame!
Don't have a lot of room to get the part out once it's detached too...any ...

Re: HID headlight conversion kit
On the drivers side behind the pcm (between the drivers fender and the PCM) you will find a white ceramic box with a plug going into it.
Unplug that connector and you should be good to go..
I can get a picture of it tomorrow if you need one. but its not hard to find.

Re: HID headlight conversion kit
I have something similar for the low beams and fog lights and I love them. I have had them in since some time in November and I have not had anybody flash me for them being too bright and I can see much better at night. I have 10k lights but I would recommend 6k for the best light output and to ...

Either side can cause the chirping, right? Not easy to change that belt but whatever you do don't buy belt conditioner...just makes it worse later.

Re: REPLACING CARPET 99 Bonne (SLE) w/ console.
Thanks...I'll give it a try and post the results.
I'm also redoing the headliner, what a pain in the arse! Had all the seats out and still had a hard time getting it out! Busted half the trim mounts getting it out too. Not a good start.

Would of been great if the other posts said that before I started this!
Note: You have the exact same wheels and tires I have on my 99 SLE...they look great.

REPLACING CARPET 99 Bonne (SLE) w/ console.
I have everything ripped out (seats, trim, console...) but how do you get the carpet in/out without cutting it in front of the shifter? The shifter assy is connected from the floor to the front dash. Removing the shifter assy looks like a major deal. I didn't see any mention, after doing a search ...

ECC flashing-air mix act good
I removed my battery the other day...now my ECC flashes and my heater doesn't work. My air mix actuator is working fine but it defaults to cool (smooth operation) about 5 seconds after I start the car. Can you reset the ECC?
Thanks

Re: abs light comes on sporadically
Weird but my ABS light started sporadically coming on a couple weeks ago. It eventually got worse then the car started cutting out. The diode in my alternator was going bad. Have Autozone or Oreillys check your alternator...who knows, maybe you'll get lucky?
