REPLACING CARPET 99 Bonne (SLE) w/ console.

REPLACING CARPET 99 Bonne (SLE) w/ console.

I have everything ripped out (seats, trim, console...) but how do you get the carpet in/out without cutting it in front of the shifter? The shifter assy is connected from the floor to the front dash. Removing the shifter assy looks like a major deal. I didn't see any mention, after doing a search, about removing the shift assy.
