Re: Does your wife hate your car?

My girlfriend likes my 64 Pontiac Catalina and 85 Cutlass Ciera. Sometimes she even buys be gifts related to them such as new reverse lamps for the Catalina.

She drives my Bonneville anytime her car is in the shop. Even though she has a 2013 Chevy we take the Bonneville on trips. This summer we put ...

Re: LIght Gremlins

Solution...I had two similar bulbs that I switches (DOH!) causing a short in the system. The tail lamps, dash lamps, and fog lamps are all on the same circuit which explains the trouble. By replacing the bulb with the correct bulb (2057) the issue went away!

LIght Gremlins

I'm hoping someone here can guide me to a solution for my 93 Bonneville. When I press the brake pedal the fog lamps and dash lamps come on with the brake lamps even if the headlights are off. This happens regardless of the car running or not. The automatic lamps still work and if I turn the fog ...

Re: 2005 Shark Fin Roof Antenna

GM offered an upgrade for some pre 2005 model year cars to switch to the digital OnStar components. If I recall correctly it cost $200 but came with a 1 year subscription to OnStar and was available at any GM dealer. I considered doing this on my 2001 Aurora as it was one of the cars covered by this ...

Re: my bonnevile

Looks like a good place to start the Bonneville hobby. Those older (pre series 1) 3800 V6 engines never quit. My 1988 Delta 88 went to 337k.

Good luck!

My 92 SE had those wheels from the factory. It was an early build car from fall of 1991.

Re: Opinions on Rust Repair

I would like to keep the car another 5-6 years. My daily commute is about 3 miles each way so I don't rack up many miles.

Re: Opinions on Rust Repair

I went to the local body shop today. They have worked on a few of our cars before and have a good reputation. Here is their estimate:

Re: Opinions on Rust Repair

94SilverSSEi,

The car is in pretty good shape which is why I am interested in saving it. The only issues I have with it are an exhaust leak (very small), the a/c needs to be recharged, and sometimes the driver side power door lock gets stuck. It cleans up very nicely but in the pictures it hasn't ...

Re: Opinions on Rust Repair

I've got no plans to sell the car, I really enjoy it. My concern is how much is required to keep it going. I know that part of why I want to get it fixed is how badly my '92 was eaten by the rust. I just worry that given how many of the 92-99 Bonnevilles are eaten by rust that this would be a never ...

Opinions on Rust Repair

All,
I've got some rust starting on my 93 Bonneville SLE and I'm in need of opinions from the informed owners on this site. My Bonneville has 101,000 miles and runs very well. Recent work includes upper and lower intake gaskets, transmission fluid change, four new tires, front pads/rotors, lower ...

Re: Love it or Leave it?

Drive it as long as possible with just the basic repairs. If some idiot runs a red light and totals your car then all the hard work will be for nothing....the money you would spend to repaint and fix rust would be better saved towards a newer daily driver in the future.

Re: Just purchased a Gxp bonneville...couple issues need hel

Reading your post brings back so many bad memories...

When I bought my 1993 Bonneville ,I called the mechanic in town (friend of ours)...he thought i said 2003 and told me to run away.
When I brought my 2001 Aurora to the dealership once, they had another one on the lift. I mentioned to the service ...

Re: Just purchased a Gxp bonneville...couple issues need hel

Replaced the tires still have the vibration back to the dealer again....

I had this issue with my 01 Aurora (another G body with Northstar based power train). As CMNTMXR57 said before...RUN AWAY!

There was an issue with these cars that GM knows about.

Neon painted engine components has the distinct ring of a high school kid who thinks he is Vin Diesel.

For me, seeing painted headlights, engine components, different wheels, etc on a old car that might not be in great condition/needs work is alarming. It screams Grandma gave me her old car, I ...

To my eyes the carpets look dark...possibly wet. My 2001 Aurora had a sunroof leak that showed up as wet carpets on the driverside in front and back. I would check that just in case.
Otherwise a very nice looking Bonneville!

Re: Accident today CRAP!

I had a car totaled a few years ago by an idiot who decided the speed limit wasn't fast enough. The insurance companies only had to give us book value and a copy of their list of similar cars for sale in the area that helped them create an evaluation along with the NADA value.

You may want to get a ...
