Re: Driving with a blown headgasket? options?

I replaced the fuel O-rings and put in a new fuel pressure regulator & new valve cover gaskets. FWIW, there'll never be a better or more unobstructed opportunity to change the upstream oxygen sensor IMO. (heater hoses too) Good luck.

Re: Do coolant elbows without removing uim and lim?

I just used some "faucet grease" that is approved for butyl rubber, neoprene, etc. O-rings. I also installed a new tensioner and carefully polished it and the other bores with 0000 steel wool until they were very bright and smooth. So far, so good, knock wood. :)

Yeah, I don't think it will affect the way it runs at all.

Re: dumbest battery question ever!

Oh, mine ran fine, it had lost all the radio presets and it just wouldn't show as ready for an emissions test but it was running perfectly. Here's more info: https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=Ge ... ving+Cycle

Re: dumbest battery question ever!

After a prolonged period of having the battery out of my SLE, all of the sensor readings were deleted and it wouldn't pass an emissions test. After being told to "just drive it for a week and they'll reset" didn't do it,(several times) I found the procedure for a "OBDII driving cycle" online and ...

Re: dumbest battery question ever!

There are little adapters that plug into the cig. lighter with a 9V battery that will supposedly retain all the memories in your electronics. I bought this one but have never used it, so I can't say if it really works or not. http://smile.amazon.com/Powerbuilt-648539-Computer-Memory-Keeper/dp ...

Re: Do coolant elbows without removing uim and lim?

I changed mine to the alum. ones when I did the LIM gaskets. IIRC, I'm pretty sure you can change the elbows by removing just the alternator mount/belt tensioner. Not sure though, it's been a while. I do recall going to Mr. Goodwrench to buy the O-rings rather than using the Dorman supplied ones ...

Re: Drivers rear door inoperative

I'll have both of the rear doors simultaneously stop responding to input from the driver's controls and the keyless entry fob. It comes and goes. I suspect that it has something to do with past water leaks, not sure.
In your case, I would start by looking for corrosion at a splice under the driver ...

I order these from Amazon for both Pontiacs, best I've ever used. Not the cheapest, though. :)

Never too late to change. (your coolant or your mind) :beerchug: Not sure why I'd wanna' bit@h about saving $2000.00 by getting a warranty, either. I know they can be a pain for the techs/shops but, I am neither of those.

Re: Front slotted rotors only?

"Drilled" rotors aren't a great choice from what I've read on the subject. (excessive weakening) I have bought both slotted rotors and slotted/"dimpled" rotors from EBC to fit both the front and rear axles of a Bonn. GXP. The front & rear rotors for non GXP's are also available. Online prices can ...

Re: Anyone had their Bonne stall on them while moving?

In the last year that I owned my 93 SE, the engine died a number of times when I would steer kinda' hard to change lanes or turn off the road, etc. Always re-started right away. Never did figure it out. Donated the car to a local charity and they auctioned it off, problem solved. Good luck. :)

Re: Buying a 2005 GXP tomorrow... how scared should I be?

My low mileage 05 GXP had HG failure not long after I bought it.(3 1/2 yrs. ago) I know some don't like aftermarket service warranties, but, mine only cost $2000 at time of car purchase, not long after, it covered approx. 99% of a $4000.00 plus repair bill at the Mr. Goodwrench - Cadillac dealer ...

Re: Hours required by a professional to remove the dash ?

I was pretty disappointed to realize that the guy that installed the blower and mentioned water being present never bothered to check the condensate drain on the GXP. Today, the wife said she'd heard water "sloshing around" when making turns. The pass. side carpet was soaked. I went to check the ...

Re: Hours required by a professional to remove the dash ?

My passenger side ducts started blowing only hot air, even when the temp. was set to 60 degrees and A/C button pushed. I closed the vents on that side have tolerated it for quite a while. Now, the mode selector has stopped directing the airflow and it comes out of the vents only( no floor or ...

Re: Hours required by a professional to remove the dash ?

If I decide to just limit this project to only replacing the 4 actuator/airmix motors, can they all be accessed without removing the dashboard and console ? I doubt anyone would charge me any less than the full 7 hours that are listed in the book, and that wouldn't include whatever time was needed ...
