Re: Rear air ride air pump
When you're pressing the button in the trunk to turn on the pump, is the ignition key in the "ON" position? It won't work without it.

Re: Head Gasket Tightening
Yes, I'm using new bolts. Should I tighten each bolt in sequence to the full torque, or tighten them incrementally in a couple of steps in sequence? For instance tightening all to 38 ft/lbs then 60 degrees and then another 60 degrees?

Head Gasket Tightening
Blew the head gasket between cylinders 2 & 4. In process of putting everything back together, but I want to clarify what I need to do to do the job correctly.
I know I need to use new bolts and I know the torque sequence.

Is There an Order That I Should Do the Work
I'm getting set to do some work on my 01 SSEi that has been a long time coming, and wanted to ask if there is any particular order I should do the work. I'm going to replace my rack and pinion (difficult to turn right most of the time) tie rod ends (come with the new rack), the front struts ...

HVAC System Frustration
I've been having a problem with the HVAC system in my 2001 SSEi for a while.
The problem started with it only blowing air out of the dash vents and not being able to change to any of the other modes.
Changed the mode actuator, and during the process I dropped the socket and 1 of the attaching screws ...

Re: Did I replace the wrong part?
Thanks for the great photo. I did replace the correct part, the mode actuator.
Is there anything else that could go wrong that would make it not operate correctly?

Did I replace the wrong part?
For the past number of months, my 2001 SSEi would only blow air out of the dash vents. Nothing to the windshield or to the floor. So last Sunday I replaced the drivers side air mix actuator (pain in the ass since my hands are too big and I'm not as young as I used to be) and now it blows mainly to ...

Climat Control Issue. What to replace
The climate control system on my 2001 SSEi is blowing only out of the dash vents no matter what setting it is set on. Is this a problem with the actuators, the control unit or both? Or could it be something else besides?
Also, (if it matters) if the AC button is pressed, the blower motor doesn't ...

Re: Key Won't Turn in Ignition. HELP!!!
Finally got it fixed!
Had to call a locksmith who had it out pretty quickly. Bonneville lock tumblers have 7 wafers that the key operates, and each one has 2 small "horns" at the top. Turns out one of the wafers tiny "horns" broke off and jammed the entire switch. Cost me $125. $35 for the service ...

Re: Key Won't Turn in Ignition. HELP!!!
I now know why I've been unable to get the PASS key ring out of the ignition switch.
To be able to push the button on the side of the switch to get it to release, you have to be able to turn the key to RUN. I can't turn the key at all, so it's kind of a catch-22.

Re: Key Won't Turn in Ignition. HELP!!!
I'm stuck getting the ignition switch out. Every thing else up to this point was easy, taking off the bezel, removing the radio etc. When I'm trying to take the switch out, the PASS key sensor ring won't pass thru the opening. Is there something I'm missing, because I really don't want to try and ...

Yep, I tried wiggling the key, hitting the dash near the ignition switch, wiggling and hitting the shifter even rocking the car all to no avail.

Key Won't Turn in Ignition. HELP!!!
Went to leave the office tonight, got in the car, and the key won't turn from the off position, so can't start the car.
It only turns a fraction of an inch, enough to hear the fuel pump come on and nothing more.
Could it be the ignition switch, or the interlock with the transmission? What could ...

Could also be one or both of your coolant elbows, which are on the passenger side of the engine. Really easy to fix and cheap too. The elbows are $5 or so at any auto parts store. Good Luck! Hope it isn't anything too serious

Hard to Turn - But only going right
My 2001 SSei has had a steering issue for a while, and I'm finally getting tired enough of it to see what might be involved to get it repaired.
Most of the time when turning right, it's as if the car has no power steering and it's really difficult to turn. Every once in a while it turns easily like ...

Re: I can't warm my feet or defrost the windshield!! HELP!
Thanks for the info.
Since the passenger side control will not turn off the system, I can't change from outside to recirc mode, and fan speed only works manually, is it possible that all of my problems are because of the instrument panel module?

Hi Everyone!
I'm new to my 2001 Bonneville SSEi, my dad just handed it down to me and it just developed a problem I don't know where to begin to fix it.
I've had the car for just a month or so and everything has been fine. Now, all of a sudden, I can't the heat to come out of the floor vents or up ...
