I can't warm my feet or defrost the windshield!! HELP!

Hi Everyone!

I'm new to my 2001 Bonneville SSEi, my dad just handed it down to me and it just developed a problem I don't know where to begin to fix it.
I've had the car for just a month or so and everything has been fine. Now, all of a sudden, I can't the heat to come out of the floor vents or up to the windshield to defrost it! (cold feet and I can't see
All I get is air out of the dash vents. It's better than nothing, but I've got to fix it soon. What could be wrong?

It's possible that your mode actuator is defective. It's located on the airbox, on the driver's side. You'll have to remove the lower dash panel, then while laying on your back in the driver's footwell, look up at the center of the dash, and you should be able to see it.

I am having the same issue only the opposite. Archon I was going to make a post about this issue.

Recently i had the issue were the back windows don't go down and locks don't work. So when I pulled the seat out and carpet up to get to the wire harness. When I was going through the wire harness i had found a similar connector that was slightly rusted. Thinking this was the connector point for the back window problem i cut it and rewired it. Realizing after I was done that the windows were still not working i went deeper and found the correct one. So I wasn't real sure of what the 1st wire I worked on was for. now that the car is back together and I started driving it I noticed that I cannot get air out of the vents.

The ? I have is do you know if there is wiring for the actuator that would run under the seat and to the rear of the car maybe to the fuse box. I would believe there would be but, more for the entire assembly not just the one actuator motor the controls the direction of the air.


If there is wireing that runs back for the actuator;
I thought that maybe since these cars are prone for water leaks that maybe his wire rotted and it is causing non function problem.

If its not: then I may need some help too.

Virtually all connections are between the actuators and the instrument panel module. There is one brown wire that goes to the HVAC fuse in the rear fuse block.

I dont have alot of heat down by my feet ,i drilled extra holes in the plastic under the dash

The air comes out of the ducting, that plastic is just to keep you from accidentally kicking something under the dash, and help seal the area off. No HVAC air flows through that plastic...

FWIW, all the HVAC parts are controlled electronically, not via vacuum on 00+. Nothing in the post 96 SSEi linked to applies to an 00+.

Since the passenger side control will not turn off the system, I can't change from outside to recirc mode, and fan speed only works manually, is it possible that all of my problems are because of the instrument panel module?
