Rattle in the Rear End
After almost a year off and on of trying to find a rattle at low speed going over bumps I finally found the problem. I replaced the shocks, new shock mounts, and even replaced the left torsion bar to no avail. Finaly I discoverd that one of the body mounts under the rear door had somehow rusted ...

Hope you have better luck than I have. The following link describes my escapade.

Since you live only about 50 miles from me we may have to put our heads together and see if we can find the problem.

Re: Rear Shock Part Number
Thanks for the reply Archon!! I am realy going to have to think about spending anymore money on shocks and mounts only to have it continue to clunk. I have purchased 2 sets of monroe shocks and two different mounts and switched from side to side only to still have the same noise coming from the left ...

Re: Rear Shock Part Number
The reason I ask this is because I want to replace the monroe air shocks and after market mounts with a set of GM factory replacement shocks that come with the mounts attached to try to get rid of the clunking sound that I am pretty annoyed at. See link http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/forum ...

Rear Shock Part Number
Can anyone give me the correct part number for the rear air shocks for a 2000 SLE? Rock Auto has different part numbers but they don't specify which is a direct replacement.

Re: Clunking sound in rear suspension
You would definately think that if a bushing is loose enough to clunk that you would be able to feel it when you try to move it by hand. The sound still sounds like it is coming from the trunk area. Does your sound like its coming from the trunk? My car only has 72,000 miles on it and I have had ...

Re: Clunking sound in rear suspension
I originally used the original mounts, but when I still had the noise I replaced the left side with a Spicer/Raybestos mount from Rock Auto and still had the noise. I then switched the mounts from right to left and still had the noise. I don't beleive that the shocks are my problem with all that I ...

Re: Clunking sound in rear suspension
I had a mechanic check it out and he said every thing looked ok, and thought the shock was making the noise on the left side. I took the shocks back and bought another set of Monroe shocks and put them on. Noise still there.

Re: Window Regulator Just Broke!
The repair in this forum may work great if there is no damage to the cables. My cables were frayed and damaged. So I sent them to Mirror Gaurd to be repaired. They cost about $85 bucks but they are completely rebuilt with new parts and very quick turn a round.

I was in the process of putting ner Monroe Air shocks on my 2000 SLE today and could not get the air line out of one of the shocks, and it broke off next to the fitting. :angry4: No problem with the other side. Just bend the bracket that the locking mechanism fits into very slightly and it will work fine. Had the same problem and thats how I fixed it. Works good now/

Re: GPS Navigation Unit for car, any suggestions?
I have an older Garmin 340 Street Pilot, and I love it. These were quite bulky and have been replaced with the new nuvi's. If I was to purchase a new unit I would look at the Nuvi 260,since it gives turn by turn directions and also speeks the street names as well, just like my 340. My money is on ...

Re: VIDEO: How to change fuel sending unit
Nice video, But here's my question. With a good fuelsender, how many miles do you drive with a full fank of gas before the gage moves off the full mark? I can drive about 200 miles befor my gage moves off the full mark. Then I can drive around another 150 to 180 miles before it reads empty. Is this ...

Re: Instructions for Replacing rear shock (strut) mounts?
Let me know if just changing the mounts gets rid of the clunk. If so I may change mine, but they look ok to me, and like I said I only get the clunk under certain conditions.
