Re: Multiple ICM failures...what is going on?
From what I understand, the Magnavox type system as a whole was junk, prone to failure, and requiring complete replacement when it does. Most switch over to the newer Delco system, and never look back.

Multiple ICM failures...what is going on?
1989 bonneville. At around 120k the factor ICM went south along with coil pack. Since then I've been thru 2 more ICM and another set of coils. In the last 50000 miles.
What could be causing this? I seem to recall someone here talking about the ICM itself doesn't hold up well to heat. The Magnavox ...

Sounds like they work from what I've read today. Also sounds like a lot of them fail quickly.

5W-30, in whatever flavor you like/is on sale at the parts store/oil change place should be plenty for those temps. It's all I ever ran in my 03 SSEi and that sat out in the elements in a parking lot at a private college in Central MN, lol. We had some nasty cold spells.

Italian Tuneup?
I found some info in the 2000-2005 forum.
So, put car in 2nd and do a couple WOT runs? How much is too much? I'd like to blow some of the carbon out of the engine. It's basically a "around town" car and almost never gets run on long trips.

Re: Window regulator?
It's a motor that pushes and pulls a plastic tape to move the center guide and that guide pushes the window up/down. The tape slides through a steel track, that track gets rusty over time and causes the tape/guide to bind. Also the forward and rearward guides can have the same issue riding on their ...

Spark Plugs...anti-seize or not?
I'm going to install six new Delco R45tls6 sometime this week. The factory plugs. Black threads not nickel like NGK and others.
Should I put a THIN THIN THINK coat of anti-seize on the threads. If so, what type of antiseize?
I've got a torque wrench, and the FSM says 20 foot pounds for plugs. That ...

Re: 89 Bonny. Passenger side window won't roll up....
Thanks Matt! Like I said I can see the metal part riding up and down inside the window, so I'm pretty sure the plastic part is broken
off and is probably stuck in the window sash channel.
I found this last night, to my amazement. Video from Buick from 1988 explaining how the whole window system ...

Out cruising around this afternoon with the window down. Hot out :)
I went to raise it back up, and nothing nadda zip. I can hear the motor is working fine, and at the top of the switches travel I can SEE what looks like a silver PIN of some type. That pin goes up and down depending upon which way ...

Front Struts for a 89LE..Recommendations?
Well guys, it's time to replace the fronts. Car is spongy as hell up front and squirrely going around corners.
So, as far as brands, what would you guys recommend? I saw a thread for SSE's.
I'm probably going to order from Rock I think (allthou I'm wondering about shipping costs), so if you have ...
