Re: Looking to purchase 2 front tires for my 2001 sle
You'll obviously get many answers but I went from Michelin Pilots to Continental DWS and I can't believe how much better the Continentals are. They're quiet, smooth and I picked up a noticeable amount of fuel economy as well.

Re: Rockauto.com brake rotors - any experience?
In general, I've had excellent luck with RockAuto but you do have to be careful to figure in the shipping. I've found lately that checking on Amazon can get you a better deal due to their shipping policies and in any event, is worth taking a look.

Re: Transmission Shifts Gears Hard
Having just done the shift kit, keep in mind there are no instructions with the Transgo kit. There is a picture and for the most part, that's enough but based on the lecture I got from the Technical Support person, the kit is not intended for us mere amateurs.

Re: Transgo confusion
Thank you very much for your response. I'll put the parts in tomorrow and hopefully that will take care of the hard shifts.

Transgo confusion
I received the Transgo shift kit today but when I opened the box, the instructions consisted of 1 page of exploded views, no step by step instructions and not even any torque values for the bolts. I figured the Transgo website would have something more detailed but I couldn't find anything.

It's another 8 bolts from a fluid and filter change, it's fairly straightforward.

Trans Go ?
After 13 mostly (but not always) faithful service, it's time to sell my car. It's going to be hard to go from a supercharged motor to a Camry Hybrid but I suppose I'll learn to live with it. At any rate, as luck would have it, I've started to get hard shifts when the transmission is hot. I'm ...

Check the fuel line. Mine had to be spliced where it had corroded in the rear.

Re: heavy rain hydrolock, fwi, CRAZY
I would check the transmission fluid just to make sure it didn't get water in it. If it did, I would get that addressed yesterday.
How deep was that water? I believe this is the first documented case of drowning a FWI. I think it would be good to know what it takes to do it.

Check to see if the links are broken. My fronts were broken due to age and corrosion.

AC Delco/Sachs shocks
For those trying to decide which brand to buy for rear shocks for 2000-2003 Bonnevilles, don't bother because they are the same shock only with a different sticker. Just go with whichever is cheaper or the Sachs in the case of Rock Auto.

It's mostly gone but pops up every now and then. I'll check for tightness again but I may just have to live with it.

Re: Supercharger noise...nasty noise
The same amount of work is involved in replacing the coupler as replacing the nose drive. If you do just do the coupler, it's a great time to replace the oil as well.

Re: Who has had clunks in the trunk after installing new sho
Very strange. We took a 250 mile trip yesterday on a typically rough Illinois interstate. The clunk was still there for much of the first 1/2 of the trip but completely stopped after that. It's as if the mount had to wear in, get fully seated or who knows what.

Re: Who has had clunks in the trunk after installing new sho
Replaced mine with the Monroes a year and a half ago, but reused the mounts I had as they looked fine. I get an occasional clunk in the back when I go over a certain set of railroad tracks on the way to work if I'm going like 45 or more. I haven't investigated it, but I don't think it's from the ...

Re: Who has had clunks in the trunk after installing new sho
I just installed new Delcos and am getting a clunk in the right side. I have been over and over it checking torques and any other thing I can think of with no luck so far. It doesn't do it all the time but still, it didn't do it before I installed the new shocks and mounts so it has to either be ...

Re: Clunk in the trunk
This must be catching. I replaced my shocks and mounts last week and now I have a definite clunk at certain times going over bumps. I've checked and rechecked everything for correct torques. With all new everything, this just doesn't make sense.
