Transgo confusion

Post by Mark Fahey »

I received the Transgo shift kit today but when I opened the box, the instructions consisted of 1 page of exploded views, no step by step instructions and not even any torque values for the bolts. I figured the Transgo website would have something more detailed but I couldn't find anything.
I then called their support number and the person immediately told me that the transmission had to come out and all the work that involved. I thought that the whole purpose of the shift kit was to not have to remove or lower the transmission which is way more work than I want to get into.
Can I just install the springs and pistons and not do the 3rd gear clutch seal and the seal for reverse or is this an all or nothing deal?

Yes, you can just install the part for in the pan. Obviously trans-go wants their kit installed their way, but you don't have to remove the side-pan like they instruct, you just don't get the "full kit" like they'd want...

You'll notice the most difference with the parts in the lower pan anyway. That's all I did/have ever done.

Thank you very much for your response. I'll put the parts in tomorrow and hopefully that will take care of the hard shifts.
