Re: tranny shifts hard
Sounds like it could be a pressure control solenoid within the trans. A lot of code readers can't pick up certain transmission codes. MAP sensor doesn't interact with the trans.
But that's just a guess. High line pressure can cause hard shifts into gear, and on newer transmissions line pressure is ...

i have a 2000 3.1 v-6 chevy malibu. I just finished putting on manifold gaskets, alot of things have to be moved or taken off to get to the manifolds. No leaks but now my automatic trans. shifts hard into reverse and drive, harder into drive gear. A po108 code came on, which indicated that the MAP ...

Re: 02 sensor
If the cat is bad, does it make a rattling noise? I noticed the thin metal that covers the downstream cat. It is reveted on, do i revet them back on or just use bolts? thanks!

Re: chevy p/u cranks no start
Paperclip trick is in TechInfo. What applies to the Bonnevilles still applies to your 93 truck. If there's no CEL, then you likely don't have a code stored.
Do you hear the fuel pump priming when you turn on the key? If not, you likely have a fueling issue opposed to an ignition issue.

chevy p/u cranks no start
1993 chevy p/u v-6 tbi, cranks but won't start. new ignition coil, fairly new dist. cap & wires, fairly good plugs. It has been about 6 months since its been driven, but started occasionally and it started fine. I took off either 5 or 6 plug wire to use on another car, and i would have to move p/u ...

Re: chevy p/u
[quote="00Beast"]The engine does not always end with the #1 cylinder @ TDC. It ends wherever the engine comes to a stop at. The easiest way to get it to #1 TDC is to take a paper towel or a rag and roll it up, stick it into the plug hole w/ the plug out and the engine disabled so it won't start, and ...

Re: chevy p/u
The p/u started and ran good for several minutes then i would turn it off and restart and it would. Now it will crank but not start, i checked fuel filter, i can hear fuel pump kick-in. Would a bad ignition coil do that?

Re: cat. converter
Actually it is hurting my wallet. I get a code that says cat. sys. efficiency low bank 1, whatever that means. I kinda take it as maybe it's referring to o2 sensor. If that's the case i would rather buy a sensor than a converter. If it's the converter, i would rather take it off.

I have a 2000 bonny, 6 cyl. with a supercharger. My question is if i take off cat and leave it off, will it do any damage to engine. I would like to put some glass packs on it, maybe, depends on how a 6 cyl. would sound with them. I love the deep sound of a exhaust. I don't have an inspection in my ...

Also depends on how tight the boot is on the plug! Make sure you use a wire puller. I would say 50/50 on the plugs. Where do i find parts ? In the forum.

I'm having the same problem. It says random/multiple misfire. Did replacing the coil actually fix it. I'm asking before i go and buy a coil and how much does a coil cost. Thanks! Dwight
