Re: What did you do to your car today?
Purchased, picked up, and stripped a 2003 SLE, all for the rear right passenger door (I placed a WTB add for the door but had no response in over 30 days). The car I bought was a one owner with 155k miles, bought at Copart. Car had been hit in driver side rear wheel well, snapping the rear lower ...

Re: Purchasing 2000 SLE. Need advice
As a commuter might be a very nice buy, as a flip maybe not so much. I think $1200 is high for a 200k Bonneville that needs body work and needs engine work- I understand it is only showing LIM gasket failure. Add in the transport from Seattle to Montana- you are easily over 2,000 for a 200k miles ...

Re: Stalling under acceleration
Check for corrosion where the coils plug in. Only takes a few moments, very easy to do. I had one of the three sets of coils have corrosion on its contacts causing the same issue. No idea why the center coil back had contact corrosion. Took only a few minutes to pull the coil, sand off the corrosion ...

Re: Oil Filter Question
A couple random notes for this thread.
The 2000, 4.3l Chevy S10 is the "larger size" 3.8L filter. Simply ask for a 2000 S10 filter with a 4.3L engine and you will have a perfect fit for the larger capacity 3.8L oil filter, without needing to remember filter part numbers.

Re: 2005 GXP 110k value
Four prior owners, sold at auction three times, condition issues, and in the high risk zone of head gasket leak, puts my estimate down from $3500-$4000 to $2000. Huge risk in being a four owner GXP that lived in the north at 100k miles and no indication of proper care and maintenance.

Re: 2005 GXP 110k value
The last Pontiac Bonneville GXP on Ebay sold for $4,461, with 64,000 miles, 9 bidders, on 11 December 2016. One owner. Likely puts the GXP you are looking at in the $3,500-$4,000 range.

Re: Little to no heat
Take a second look at doing a pressure test. Very easy to do and will eliminate a whole bunch of possible issues if coolant system shows no leaks. Every GM vehicle I have owned (Bonneville, Grand Prix, S10s, Bravadas) have had issues with not enough heat, it has always come down to a clogged heater ...

Re: Little to no heat
Before you dig real deep into the electronics/ electrical, you might want to consider doing a radiator pressure test. Seems every time I have a poor heating issue it has come down to a a weak leak in the cooling system, to include a water pump and a LIM gasket. I know you stated the hoses are hot to ...

Re: Coolant problem
Last time my 2001 SSEi had a leak with signs like yours, the upper passenger side of the radiator developed a hairline crack. Took me a while to pinpoint the crack. Over time the crack got bigger and then tiny pools of coolant were found after filling the coolant overflow and driving in hot weather ...

Re: 2000 Bonneville SSEI weird humming noise.
Air compressor for the rear air shocks? The air compressor is located behind the rear right wheel. If you hear it at idle like at a stop light could be your shocks are loosing air, and the compressor is running more than it should to compensate for the air loss.

Re: 2000 Bonnie - Lug Stud Replacement Problems
Also glad you found the fix. Another course of action worth mentioning is replacement of the hub assembly (which comes with new lugs) instead of the individual lugs. The hub assemblies are often high fail items, and often run under $90 for a timken brand. Replacement of the hub assembly is fairly ...

Re: 2001 Bonneville SLE Fuel Pump
The new fuel pump connector was designed to allow more current to the pump (reduced resistance). Kind of like a bigger pipe for electrons at the pump where the electric comes in.dougtoth wrote:One last question on the fuel pump.
Why or for what purpose did they change the connector/plug to a different style?

Re: 2001 Bonneville SLE Fuel Pump
Delphi is an excellent to go with. One thing with the Delphi (and AC Delco) replacement pumps, they come with revised harnesses. This requires splicing of the wires at the fuel pump to install the modified connector. Very easy to do.
