In replacing rear shocks will the new shocks marked as 'left hand' and 'right hand' be damaged if they are installed on the wrong side, ie. 'left hand' shock on the right side of vehicle and 'right hand' shock on the left side of the vehicle? Why are they so marked?

Both shocks are the same, it doesn't matter which one goes on which side. Just make sure the air line nozzle is facing the rear of the vehicle.

Not sure which brand you purchased, but I used KYBs and they were not marked.

yes, the air connection should face to side so hose will fit.thats the only difference i saw on my 2000.
