Hi all
I know this has been brought up countless times. I'm getting my tax return next week and I need to do struts and shocks. My original idea was to get GXP struts and shocks and all the mounts and through rock auto it would be almost $800 or I could go with the monro sensa trac struts and shocks and mounts for around $300. Now is the FE5 suspension actually worth it? I do plan on lowering it to so would I be better off with the gxp or ssei suspension?

Thanks, Keith

not to thread Jack or get off topic but how do you plan on lowering it?

I found a site that has the Eibach springs for the DTS/Lucerne. From what I understand we share the same suspension with them.

The springs are the same, idk if the whole suspension is the same.

If you plan on lowering it, just get the lowering springs and GXP struts.

I would say so. If our GXP is still around when it needs shocks, it's getting Max-Air's, not $200 apiece Delco's...

Good to know. I was pretty shocked to find out how much they are. Definitely wasn't very happy about it. I've only drove a gxp once back in 05 and dont remember how it handled compared to an ei.

I believe monroe uses the exact same strut for SE, sle, ssei and gxp. Fluffy, old people struts. Probablt the same part number as for a park avenue as well. Id look outside the rock auto realm. I have a thread somewhere with all the part numbers for delco and even Bilstein parts that are legitimately stiffer than stock.

Also, i dont know for sure about the DTS springs working, ive always heard STS. Hopefully the DTS will work too.

Did a little cross referencing and looks like the dts/lucerne uses different struts. which sucks I was getting excited that I could finally drop my car

actually I retract my previous statement the eibach springs off of say an 02 Seville will work. kinda had a brain fart and only cross referenced part numbers which was dumb obviously the caddy is going to use a different strut set up but the strut mounts and the spring isolators are the same which leads me to believe my Bonnie is getting dropped ASAP! I just wish it was more than a 1.2" drop

I have all the Delco p/n but it seems that rock auto has the best prices for FE5 shocks and struts. I couldn't find the part numbers for the Bilstein. Id much rather have an "upgraded" suspension compared to my stock setup. But here is the thread I put up with the part numbers I found. http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=31456
What really gets me is the $200 for each shock :ballkick:
I found some posts over on Bpro where the Deville springs were used. The ones I found fits the Deville/DTS/DHS and the LUCERNE CX/CXS/CXL. I'm still looking around some more to make sure this are the spring I need.
