o.k i need some help very despeatly..

i am in the middle of hooking up a pioneer fh p8000bt radio in a 2005 subaru outback and i ran into 2 problems that left me baffled for about 3 hours..

first problem.. the radio truns on and works but it says ( NO AUDIO ) on the radios digital screen and no sound not even static comes out of the speakers.. i searched online and cat find nothing.. i was thiking maybe there is a stock amp that wont allow me to get any sound but im not sure.. does anybody know what will be the cause of the radio to say
( NO AUDIO ) on the screen.. i never seen a radio that said this before in my life.. has anybody here have.?

and the second problem is that once i put in the new pioneer fh p8000bt radio several lights inside the car stopped woring..
the interior lights, the digital odometer, the illuminated ring around the ignition and the brake lights all dont work all of a sudden.. but his head lights, turn siglas and hazards still work fine.. its confusing..
so i looked in the fuse panel and there is no fuse that says interior lights.. or anything close to that affect..
i dont want to be held responsible for him having to take his car to a mechanic and pay to fix his lights..

now i am doing this for somebody as a job so i dont want to leave the car like that and make myself look bad like i dont know what im doing..

i mean i'm sure its 2 simple things im missing but i just cant figure it out and my reputation with this guy and his friends for car audio installation is on the line..

Dang, I always thought that Subies were *dang* easy cars to work on stereo wise... Is that the new model that they still have out, or the model before that? I'd try locating the amp and try bypassing it, maybe. I'm curious if you used the right harness, especially since you mentioned the lights... You DID use a harness, right?

BTW, did you try hooking in the old radio to make sure the lights work?

i did not have to cut and splice any wires at all..

i used the ( subaru to universal smart cable) and attached that to a ( pioneer 03-05 to universal smart cable )

one end of the ( subaru to universal smart cable ) went into the clip for the stock radio's wire harness and the other end went into one end of the ( pioneer to universal ) cable and the other end of the pioneer to universal radio plugs into the back of the aftermarket pioneer radio instead of the wire harness that came with the aftermarket radio...

would i get no sound if there was a stock amp in the way..?

I really doubt the stereo would detect an oe amplifier. Most likely it's not setup right. Check the manual for what the error code denotes.

As for the lighting, it might pass through the OE stereo, and if it's not setup or bypassed right, they may not work. Otherwise i'd bet you shorted the circuit and popped the fuse.

i went over every fuse in the car and could not find any that said interior or anything close to it for short..

i even checked the relay panel under the hood.. did not see anything on the cover either that said interior or similar. a

noting that i checked was burnt or blown but i did not check every single fuse..

how would i know if the lights were powered off the radio..

Go to NASIOC and ask them (prob wont get info this second) or search. If you don't know exactly what every wire in your harness is doing you need to stop soldering/crimping/taping/whatever and figure it out before you cross wires and short something.

Pioneer has a dimmer function buried in their set-up options on some models. But I doubt that would affect the brake lights. Does Subaru route any of the alarm functions to or through the radio?

IIRC that merely dims the radio when the interior lights turn on.
