Cleaning a Supercharger, Instide & off car

I just pulled the supercharger for a coolant leak, found the inside of the supercharger coated with DEX. This was do to some one not installing it right the last time and the gasket was torn. I want to clean her up good be for i put it back together.

no just a burnt on coating (i.e. the DEX was splashing on the hot rotors while the it was running), was looking at using carb cleaner, but don't want to hurt the rotor coating or anything.

Don't use carb cleaner.

Like you took the supercharger and filled in with DEX and baked it in an oven. Kinda orange and black at the same time.

not really either, it is just a coating on baked on DEX, not ever sure if it is hurting anything, just want it to be the best i can make it for now.

Obviously, a ripped gasket is/can be a problem. But you're sure it's not just EGR residue?

I gaurantee you also have EGR and PCV residue on it, and the DEX is just a thin top layer. It's generally considered best practice to NOT clean the rotors or housing, as the buildup actually makes the supercharger more efficient. But I too would love to see pics.

Ultimately, it's probably best to leave it and let it clean off over time with use. If you MUST clean it up, don't pull it apart until you have some new spare needle bearing grease or are willing to replace your needle bearings. Especially if your supercharger has 100k miles on it or more.
