Left front tranny/motor mount mystery part

Post by Abbby »

Working on the left front of the car and noticed this weight type piece hanging loose from the left front tranny mount/motor mount. It is actually in the left front wheel well. Anyone know what this is and the importance? Not sure how to post a picture. It has a large clamp that goes around the mount and has a weight attached to it.

Sorry about the work around but if you follow link above and look at the top left photo it is of an engine mount and you can see the metal band around it and the rusty metal weight.

That is the driver side motor mount. The weight is a vibration dampener from what I understand.

If it is still there just leave it, if it is rusted and loose about to fall off go ahead and pull it off and throw it away. If it is already gone just leave it, it won't hurt anything. Just there to help dampen some vibration as mentioned above.
