Stainless Steel Hydraulic Hose

I have a quick question. I used the search and read through some threads but I'm unclear as to whether or not I have to fabricate the lines (the ones right off the caliper that are usually rubber) or if I have to buy them somewhere. I'm just trying to upgrade them when I do the brake line overhaul/caliper/rotors/pads. I have a 1998 Bonneville SE. I don't think I have Traction Control but I don't know how to tell. I don't see anything on the dash concerning it.

Any guidance is much appreciated.

Those hoses are available at most parts stores or try Rockauto.com.
I don't know if traction control was standard in '98. Someone else
may have that answer, but if there isn't a switch to turn it off, then
you probably don't have it.
This is a '98 correct? Signature says you have a 92.

You can get the fancy braided stainless steel lines custom made at a few places, I don't know of any vendors off the shelf that make a direct fit but the Grand Prix ones may be close enough to work, though may require changing fittings on the hard line. I think ZZP or Intense might have something for those.

I'm looking at these and comparing to what I see on rockauto (which only has rubber btw)
They look identical but I could be mistaken.

The ZZP hoses don't fit Bonnevilles; they're only for W body vehicles. Bonnevilles are H body.

FWIW, for safety reasons, I stick to good name brands when it comes to brake parts.
Bendix, Centric, ACDelco, NAPA would be on that list.
Often, I favor Centric because they are typically priced better.

None of the Rockauto brake hoses mentions traction control, so the hoses are for Bonnevilles with and without traction control.

FWIW, for safety reasons, I stick to good name brands when it comes to brake parts. (Due to not wanting to replace new but defective parts, I also stick to known quality brands of other parts.)

If you do find no-name stainless braided lines on ebay, steer clear. I made that mistake about 10 years ago and blew one out in a luckily non-panic situation.

hi, yes you buy the flex lines and I would go for the rubber that has the mounting hardware included - should male the install easy

Yeah, um... I have W-body brake hoses on my Camaro. I know, I should be dead.

What matters is length and fitting size. The 92-99 Bonneville front hoses have a female M10x1.0 threaded end and a standard M10 banjo. As long as the length is close enough and the fittings are the same it doesn't matter what application it's from. All you have to do with the ZZP lines is get the longer 20.5" lines that will work with the Bonneville. Factory H-body lines have an overall length of 18.5". A quick search on RockAuto tells you that both the Grand Prix and Bonneville have a 10mm banjo and a M10x1.0 threaded end. So worst case you might have to be a little creative (zip ties are good for that, though I resort to my 3D printer for such things) to make sure the the ZZP braided stainless line is properly mounted and doesn't rub the wheel or tire.

Thank you for the wealth of knowledge on this. I really want to go with these lines so if a bit of finagling is required but still do-able then I'll go for it. MattStrike, I'm sure I'll understand fully when I go back to reference it (I'm putting new pads and rotors tomorrow for safety inspection) but you mentioned a 3D printer. I'm assuming you fabricate your own clips? If so, any way I could buy some off you?
