So, as some of you know I recently got a new job, assistant parts manager at a Chevy dealer. I'm loving the job and it's treating me well so far. I also had another 96 SSEi fall in my lap from Ryan, it needed some loving (still does) but it's come a long way, absolutely rust free, anything else I can fix, and this one is worth saving since there's no rust to speak of. 167k, freshly rebuilt trans (160k), had to replace a wheel bearing, blower snout, tensioner, belts, and some other odds and ends, this car has had a checkered past, some of the pictures will explain that, the car still has the OEM CCR shocks/struts, and they are BAD! So that will get done, and the PS pump is failing, unless I'm on the throttle it doesn't pressurize, it still needs the other hub bearing, plugs/wires, blend door actuator/ECC controller, a torque axis mount, a retrofit, and fresh tint. This tint is/was 20%, but parked next to my old red SSEi with brand new 20% you can tell how faded this is. These pictures are approximately in chronological order, starting with Ryan's ownership.
When it was untouched:
Why the shocks, and maybe PS pump, went bad.
After some time.
When Ryan, Carl and I did the LIM gaskets last year.
How I got it:
Ewwwwwww
Dat hood prop
Had to rebuild the HUD
Puppy made a tent
Hover Bonneville!
Better.
Not my cat, no comment!
I made a tent.
Rockin the Johnny Cash
After some elbow grease, and a lot of heavy cleaners.
As she sits.
Not a bad deal considering I got the friends price, and I get a good parts discount. Aside from this little bombshell, I've just been working like crazy, really enjoying the job though.
Also, this car has almost had as many sets of wheels on it as Cody's old Maxima.
