rear fuse box exessivly hot

Post by heathbresee »

im an ASE certified mechanic im light truck and car maintenance so I know my way around cars. I also used to have a 2003 grand prix gt and put 3 trannys in it as they are junk (my opinion) any way I just bought a 2002 Bonneville SLE very very nice car got it for 1500 bucks and really I cant complain.. 151,000 miles over all runs great.... only complaint are the normal ones I have found on the board with the seats and windows. except one thing we had to jump the car when we bought it fired right up drove home 45 miles and shut it off to clean it. well 15 mins later I try and fire her up and it trys starting but it wont so I jump it and it fires up. well I pull the rear seat and inspect every thing its very clean and looks good but I start car and unhook battery and she stays running so atleast I know alternator is good. so im guessing battery is toast going to get it tested tomorrow my big question here is is that fuse box supposed to get like almost so hot you can barely touch it???

First off, welcome!

The 4T65 is junk, no one will argue that here. Hahaha!

Sounds like you need a new battery. The fuse box in my car gets pretty toasty, I never thought anything of it.

Fuse box in mine gets hot as well, noticed that just yesterday while diagnosing a failed fuel pump. As said above, nobody here will argue with you on the transmissions being glass  My SSEi is on it's third, but it does have 265,000 miles.

might check the temp of the relays.. maybe one or more is getting hot and messed up internally.. if one runs hotter then the rest i would swap it out. might be something to check.
