Painting/prepping engine parts

Alright, so Tuesday I'm going to start tearing into the LeSabre to do the valve cover gaskets, upper intake, oil pan, etc. I'm going to be painting the valve covers and the intake manifold with a blue/silver color scheme. I'll probably paint the FWI to match as well.
Is there anything specific I should do before I paint the parts as far as prep work? I"m going to clean them super good first with brake cleaner, and then wash them with soap and water to make sure all the cleaner is off, but is there anything else I should do?
Also, I'd really like to paint the fuel rail to match. Is there anything special I need to do to paint it? I'm going to be using just standard high heat engine paint from Advance, and I need to still pick up a can of primer as well since they were sold out (unless that's not needed with the engine paint?).
