Cars at that point where I gotta get new rotors and brakes. I'm thinking of swapping out for some better performing aftermarket brakes. I think Brembo might be too expensive (correct me if I'm wrong - I haven't looked yet) but I would like something priced well that performs well for our cars. Obviously these ain't no Ferrari's . My only other requirement is that they come painted red from the factory. Is Brembo a brand anyone here has tried?

I used Autosports rotors, ebc red stuff pads, and painted up a new set of calipers. Look awesome and work great. Don't waste your money on Brembos. Not even sure you can get Brembos or baer kits for these cars.

There are no kits for these cars. You can take full advantage of the factory brakes by upgrading to some ceramic pads for greater bite. I have Hawk HPS and the bite is still amazing after 40k miles. They are a bit dusty however.

If you want to upgrade the calipers you can try to find GXP brakes, or you can try to adapt F-body calipers or C5 Z06 calipers. They need their caliper bolt holes redrilled for the H-body hub. But after that it's plug and play. I have a set laying around waiting for warm weather.

F body Camero brakes are dual piston I believe and will bolt in. They are aluminum too so you could get a set from the junk yard and paint them. I believe there will be a little more pedal travel because of the increased volume but it should stop better. I have heard good things about slotted rotors and hawk? (Maybe) ceramic pads.

Corvette c5 brakes will work too but idk how much better than f body's those

No one makes a bolt-on aftermarket brake setup, so that's out.

What can be done is to put together a setup using factory pieces from other GM cars. One method is to use F-Body (98-02 Camaro/Firebird) dual piston calipers and stock size rotors, another is to upgrade to Bonneville GXP/Cadillac DTS/Grand Prix GXP dual piston calipers and 12.9" rotors. There's been a lot of threads, a quick search on here would probably garner a lot of information. Some of these were red painted OEM, but you're probably going to want to give them a fresh coat of paint.

Brakemotive on ebay sell zinc plated cross drilled and slotted rotor/pad sets for really cheap. I have a set and they seem to work well and reviews across the site are pretty favorable as well. Get those to match whatever setup you pick.

My setup is the slotted rotors and Hawk Ceramics. First time I stopped after the install it blew my mind. And ripped my sunglasses off my face. Hahaha.

F-body brakes will not bolt in. C5 Z06 brakes have bigger cooling fins and smaller pistons. They preserve the brake feel better than the F-body calipers do.

What size rotors will I need? Does stock work with the GXP calipers? Should I get something bigger?

GXP calipers require stepping up to the larger rotors. You also need the hardware for the GXP calipers, they use a special shouldered bolt to bolt to the knuckle, and the brake lines may or may not be different.

Oh. Can anyone here comment on the brake lines? Would the shouldered bolt come w the calipers? What size rotors are GXP front and rear?

It *should* come with the calipers, but may not, so pay attention. I know the GXP brake lines were different, but I can't comment that your SSEi lines wouldn't work.

My question is: What are you stopping for? Just DD'ing the car? Or planning on doing some "high-performance" driving?

Really just stopping, but occasional hard use in summer only. I'd like to get the GXP calipers so whatever I need to do to make that work. I'll ask Andrew if his set comes with the bolt. I know this is a LMGTFY moment, but could you link me to the Brakemotive drilled+slotted rotors? I can't find them online... Also not sure which Hawk Ceramic pads to get?

Here is a complete pad and rotor kit for the 2005 Bonneville GXP. These should work with the GXP calipers on your car, but I would double check still.

Oh great, thanks. What about the brake lines. Should those be all set on my car and where can I find the Hawk Ceramic pads?

Okay just purchased the GXP calipers from Andrew! He mentioned that they come with the shoulder bolt as well as the brake lines. I can purchase the rotor set but it would be a shame to waste those brake pads. Are the Hawk Ceramic pads really a big step up?

Ceramic pads or go home! Of course they will work just fine and keep your wheels dust free.

Did you get the rear calipers and brackets as well? The GXP uses a different caliper bracket for the rear and a larger rear rotor so if you don't get rear stuff you will need to make sure to get GXP front pads and rotors and SSEi rear pads and rotors.
