Engine Bay Shots

Post by PilotScott »

Hey Pontiac Bonneville Club! I haven't seen a topic for this, so I thought I would create it. Looking for photos of engine bays, especially dressed ones. I'm thinking of things to do to clean and tidy mine, but visually it's tough to picture. Suggestions on vendors, products always welcome. I have the added challenge of trying to get a good look to match the maroon (not official color, I know) body. Thanks!!

Here are some older ones. I'm changing a lot of things at the moment so that's why they are 'old'.

As I was putting the Bonneville back together, still had the colors from the LeSabre:

Wheel cleaner that's safe for painted rims. That stuff will rip the crud off everything if you use in conjunction with a scrub brush.

I still have yet to tuck the engine harness and it's missing my polished alt, tensioner, and valve covers but it's mostly shaved and tucked otherwise.

My 235k mile contribution. Even though it isn't highly dressed. Aside from the old Turbo 6 oil cap from The Limo. :)

I've been looking into tidying up my engine bay as well. Any way to make it look more 'streamlined'? I sort of get what the tucking of wires is, but how would I go about doing it?

The paint on my supercharger is chipping a little, and I would like to take it out and wrinkle coat it eventually.
Might be asking for a little much, but could someone make a small writeup on making the engine bay look better? lol

Same thing I used to paint the block:

Galaxy purple colorshift. On the supercharger, the colorshift was painted over the wrinkle coat. What I really wanted was a metallic purple, this was as close as I could find. But it ended up working out nicely.

Just a little bit of paint and polish in the right spots goes a long way.

Those are some clean engines. What paint do you all recommend? I am thinking of doing the paint work while replacing the intake manifolds/gaskets. Will, does your G8 really have 238k?!

Nothing spectacular but I color matched my engine cover and I also had a painted custom FWI that you can't see in the picture

Some nice bay out there! Here are mine.
It may not be a Bonneville, but this L67 came from one and its still in an H-body :)

And before anyone says it, I know I need a CAI... reading 3* of KR at close to WOT. I was trying to fabricate my own, but that has clearly lost priority in the world of live and might just get an Intense kit.

Heres my L36, not an H-body, but same beast:
Image
Just finished the LIM gaskets and UIM. Man I would love to have time to wire tuck this thing. In the mean time I'll have to figure out how to paint my cover as nice as Nicks above.

All really nice pictures. Very nice work MattStrike,...sseiMan01 I like the Pontiac arrow on the intake hose, very subtle, ....younggunsls1 and samples08, nice detailing job on the engine covers! SCtype, I like the red wires and coils. FasGP, the mesh in the front is nice. The red wire tubes are an interesting touch. From the distance, it looks like blood vessels running throughout your engine compartment (well I'm a doctor, so what do you want me to say?) Whitearrow3800, nice clean look! Not sure what to do for my 04 GXP. Should I paint a Cadillac emblem on the engine cover, hahaha.
