Radiator Question

Talk about the other 3800 powered GM cars, particularly for items not covered in other sections that may be unique to your year/model, and differ from a Bonneville.

Radiator Question

Post by ice_qube »

I recently purchased a 98 Grand Prix GT for $800 bucks...the radiator needs to be replaced and when i look them up i get a bunch of different sizes. The sizes that come up are 5/8", 1", 1 1/4". How am i sure what size i have or does it really not matter the thickness of the radiator as they all will fit? I did notice that they all look the same. I was planning on getting it from Rock Auto as the prices amaze me, but didnt want to get one and be mad because it wont fit.

please and thank you

Measure the core thickness of the stock radiator that is what they are referring to.

The 98 Guy's are 5/8 I believe. The 1" is stock for 04+ and the even thicker ones are for the Comp GM's, or at least that's what I think I read on another forum. If you can fit it the 1" is a nice upgrade for these heat soaked engine bays.
Enjoy/interested in car audio? First tip, gain =/= to volume, no matter what anyone says, it's technically sensitivity >:(

Just make sure that Rock Auto isn't going to charge you an arm and both legs for shipping, as they're prone to doing lately...
