Trans died in my old '93, I told Nikki (current owner) that I would fix it for her. I found a guy that joined up on here that lives about two hours away, got ahold of him and said he had one, but he was going to go through it first to make sure it was good. That was three weeks ago, and I have been in contact with him several times and I was supposed to pick the trans up several times. One day I even drove down there, like we had agreed to, I got ten minutes from his house and he called and cancelled.... I was pissed. He said that he would get it done that day and bring it up to me, that was last Sunday. After a couple more chats, he was supposed to be at my house this morning at 7 AM and he was going to bring the trans and help me install it... of course, he didn't show. I also didn't expect him to show, so I decided to go outside at 7 AM and tear the trans apart myself.
I still have the old trans that I pulled out of the car two years ago from burnt clutches and a bad diff, I used parts out of that trans to repair this one.
Some may remember the clunking noise that I said was in the trans after I put it in... well, this was the source.
Bad, from the trans that just went out

Good, from the old trans

This is what turns the shaft that turns the differential. Now I know why it didn't move at all.

Good one from the donor trans

BAD plastic thrust washer

Better plastic thrust washer from donor trans, but it was ready to break, so I picked up a good one from the trans shop in town

All tore apart

The trans will be put back together tomorrow morning, and hopefully be back on the road before we leave for camping Saturday morning. It only took about a half hour to get it all tore apart, then another two hours sorting through parts and trying to get all the clutches back together and lined up right. The trans is mostly back together right now, just have to put the drive chain on and channel plate then change out the filter and good to go!
