Wow.... What a difference Spark Plugs Can Make.

Post by b97SSEi »

So I just finished up on some general maintenance on my SSEi.

Changed the spark plugs and fuel filter. While I was changing the spark plugs i snapped a wire.... Went to 4 different places before I could find wires for an SSEi model, and they only had performance ones which were $85 instead of $40

But I figured hey what the hell. Next pay check I'm throwing on a 180 degree t-stat and K&N cold air intake. I'm also buying a cat-back exhaust for it, some bigger injectors (not sure what size yet), 3.4i pulley, and a reprogrammed pcm.

I've also just recently installed new rotors and pads, I ended up getting the cross drilled and slotted rotors cause they were only $10 more a rotor.

New plugs and wires sure make a huge difference

And my new cross drilled and slotted rotors sure as hell stop me alot quicker then these did. (note the difference on the outside edge. that was metal on metal braking there [-X )

www.INTENSE-Racing.com is your friend..

Get there FWI, it's the best Performance intake sollution out there.. (they also have the 180* T-stat you want, but there's is a highflow)

You dont need a "cat back" system for your car, a Highflow cat and Highflow F-body muffler will do you wonders! (most here, including myself prefure MagnaFlow)

Oh BTW, no wonder the new plugs helped... Look at the Gap on those things!

Looking good for sure!!

I don't think you are in need of new injectors yet. Looks to me like you are basically stock right now, and with a 3.4 pulley and a new intake, your stock injectors will still do just fine

Me personally I think people go way to long between sparkplug changes. I know todays engines burn a lot cleaner than they did with leaded fuel, one of the main enemies of a plug, 100k between changes is just plain ridiculous, I will change mine probably once a year at minimum. Yours sure needed changing from the looks of them. What type of plug did you replace them with?

Just the stock AC Delco plugs. I knew i needed plugs right away so I didn't bother looking for performance one's.

I paid an extra $5 a rotor for warranty on all defects on them. If the rotors are going to crack it will be in the first 2 months and my warrant is for 3.

Besides, they can crack if you break really hard on them in the first 350-400miles. You just have to take it easy after they're first installed and you should be alright.

The only time you really have to worry is on a race car, that's why Nascar just runs slotted

no matter if you are racing or not, drilling through something WILL weaken it. it's better if the holes are cast in.

shouldnt need to disable torque management to spin the tires. if you dont have a traction control button, you dont have traction control.
