1994 is no doubt a Series I

SSEi, which is what your avatar says, would be the L67 supercharged engine.

In more detail:

92 SSEi is the Series 1 L67 with the Gen2 Eaton M62 supercharger, smaller throttle body, and weaker axles.
93 SSEi is the Series 1 L67 with the Gen2 Eaton M62 supercharger, smaller throttle body, and stronger axles.

94 SSEi is the Series 1 L67 with the Gen3 Eaton M62 supercharger, larger throttle body, and stronger axles.
95 SSEi is the Series 1 L67 with the Gen3 Eaton M62 supercharger, larger throttle body, stronger axles, and lighter crank.

My 93 is updated with the 95 'light crank' block and the Gen3 94/95 top end. My 95 came with that from the factory.

is the Gen 3 TB fitable on the Gen 2? or does it require the full top swap? (which, iirc, is rather complicated right?)

The Gen2 and Gen3 TB's are not swappable without swapping SC's also, and the only two Gen3 swapped cars here (myself and J Wikoff) still struggle to this day for a proper tune. No, it's not a simple swap by any means.

The inlet of the Gen2 SC and the 3 stud pattern is totally different than the inlet of the Gen3.

Interesting point of comparison, the 94/95 L67 throttle plate is actually a larger diameter than the S2 L67 throttle plate.
