I live in California so I'd rather not drive to Minnesota if I can do it myself. Does anyone know what kind of bulb I need for the radio display? Can I get it at Radio Shack? and if so what are the specs?

You could remove the radio and ship it to him.

Yeah except I'm pretty electronic savvy and I have a lot of soldering experience. I'd rather no ship it off because I could easily take it apart on my own in about an hour. I'm a "do it yourself" kind of guy. I'll repeat the question again, does anyone know what kind of bulbs I need for behind the radio LCD and can I get them at radio shack? I don't care if the brightness is slightly inferior. I just want to be able to glance over at the clock while I'm driving.

I think Andrew uses the corvetteradios.com bulbs for a reason. If you're confident with your skills, I'd order them and replace them all at the same time. Do it once, and do it right.

FYI, I am still performing this service. Had quite a few requests as of recent, and at least 3 are in the mail right now to me.

Andrew, I am going to be sending off my radio here pretty soon. Also wondering about instrument cluster lights and steering wheel control lights. Do you do those as well?

Cluster lights are iffy for me. I'd be happy to tear into them and replace them, but what if it doesn't come apart right and I wreck it? Then I'm out the cost for a new one.
I will do the steering wheel lights no problem.

Well I will send you the radio and the steering wheel controls for sure. When I am doing that, I will have a look at the cluster and see about taking it apart myself and then maybe ship to you, then it is my fault.
any thought of replacing these things with LED's? Especially the steering wheel controls? Sure would last a lot longer.

They actually are LED's already. But they still burn out after time I guess.

Well ain't that a bitch. lol
Those are the steering wheel controls correct?
Have you thought about LED's for the radios and climate controls and if you started doing clusters, the clusters as well?
Jon

Yes those are the steering wheel controls.
LED's in a circuit board designed for an incandescent bulb is very tricky. You need to find a place to mount the resistor and still have the wire go through the board. I'm not interested in doing that. The incandescents I replace them with will last many more years.
Climate contols are 100% LED, other than the blue lights for the temp.

Actually, RadioShack is about the worst place to get LED's other than a standard red one. Get them here:

Haro,
Do you have a Digi-Key Part Number?
Didn't know if this a "through hole" mount LED for the buttons.
Thanks

I do not have a part number unfortunately, because when I fix them I just use working LED's from other boards to replace the bad ones.
It is a surface mount LED.

I emailed corvetteradios and asked if they could sell me the
red LED's and they asked for the radio model number.
Anybody know what the GM model numbers are for our radios?
Thanks

my last post was directed to the steering wheel buttons, which are surface mount LED's.
The red LED's in the radios (are actually orange), that light up the 1,2,3,4,5,6, SEEK/SCAN, AM/FM, CD/TAPE buttons are standard 3mm 3volt LED's.
There are many different part numbers for the 2000+ radios, but here are a couple: 25752757, 25753859

Hey Andrew,
Just got the Stereo and switches in the mail. WOW! Two days! Well, all is good. It sure is nice to see everything back in working order. Kinda funny though as I can't remember the last time I saw the heated seat switches lit. lol
Anyway, thanks again my friend. You do fantastic work.
To all club members that have this same problem; spend the few dollars and get Andrew to fix it.
