For now it's going to be trips to the co-op and back, 10 miles each way, once a day. If we get a flat-bed trailer and start going elsewhere maybe we'll look into getting the physicals, etc.
The other day I weighed at the elevator, filled full with fuel and water then weighed again. Empty and 1/4 tank of fuel was 27,860 w/ me in it, Full of fuel and water was 80,020 (Legal is 80k flat). Considering we'll rarely run it plumb full of fuel and it's only 20 lbs, I consider that a success.
Pics of the tank and the pump setup:

Bottom joint is for the fill, it takes 20 minutes to load the tank at the co-op, and 40 to unload at home (restricted by the 2" hose at home)

Motor is a GX200 Honda, starts first pull every time and burns almost no gas. As much as I love American stuff, even my Briggs and Stratton-die-hard HS Ag teacher agreed that the new Hondas are far superior to B&S. He even said the Honda knock-offs are better than B&S....

The rubber isolators you see are slices of an endlink bushing off the SSEi.

Honda small engines are amazing. My dad bought a Honda mower and the thing starts on the first pull and runs flawlessly. Great little motors.

Mmmm, Honda engines....They make awesome engines. Folks have said that Honda is an engine company that builds stuff to put their engines into.
80k lbs is hard to imagine.

Are you going to need a DOT number issued and stuff? Will you need to get decals on the side of the truck?

Yep. That was another $100 on top of the $100 for me not having a physical. Luckily you only need one DOT number per company, so if you already have a number, you can use the same one on this truck. There are more stickers and registrations you need if you ever cross a state line too. I hate the DOT.

We don't have DOT numbers yet, so we have to get one.

Update. In talking with trucker friends, we don't need a DOT number, we just need dad's name and town on the side, and current plates and DOT inspection. IDK if laws are different in Indiana, etc, but that's what everyone has told us so far, and what we're going to go with. One stopped over and pointed out things that we need to keep an eye on and lots of new things, like that the rear chassis (axles, brakes, etc) on the trailer are almost new, and the truck airbags are new, along with belts, etc. Said we got a really good deal on both.
I love the Penn & Teller sketch where they get people to sign the petition banning DHMO. /offtopic

So here's why one needs a fire extinguisher: My dad ran the pump out of gas today, and used a crappy gas can that leaks, and while pouring gas in some got on something hot and started on fire, so he had to use the fire extinguisher. Luckily nothing was damaged and he didn't get hurt.

Ed -I just had to get my DOT physical so I could drive the 99 Freightliner FL70 for my buddies cabinet shop. If I want to do deliveries outside of MN I will have to get my CDL, but just to drive a vehicle this size (24' box, single rear axle) required the DOT physical, at minimum.
