Tourqe converter stall

Hey guys, Im geting a used trans installed with about 88,000 miles on it and im woundering if changing the stock torque conveter out for one with a 1895 stall would have and effect worth me investing my money to. And what would be the stall of the one i curently have on my 89. thanks

If you have the 2.84 Ratio you would have the 1425-1450 Stall

If you have the 2.97 Ratio you would have the 1897 Stall

The 3.33 Ratio also used the 1897 stall

Not sure how much it would really help to have an 1897 stall with a 2.84....

Ok thanks for the info. But how should i go about finding the gear ratio on the trans im geting? I didnt see the rpo codes off the car it came out of. It came out of a 88 olds 88 was there a popular gear ratiofor those?

I dont know i can ask the junkyard if they have that info? Would the vin be listed on the trans?

Yea ima ask. they should know thats important information. I think i going to go ahead and purhase the higher stall see how much of a difference it would make. Its not to expensive any way.
