security light randomly flashes

security light randomly flashes

Post by bonnevillain »

so i have noticed lately that once in a while, i get a DIN DING DING and if i look down real quick the security light flashes once or twice. i am guessing this is because of the aeroforce, seeing how it never happened before, and thats the only thing i have changed. To be honest, i dont know what 12v line i tapped under the fusebox, all i know is it had 12v acc. power. has anyone else had this problem? do you think switching wires would help? im guessing the aeroforce is drawing too much power from that line, causing whatever is really on that wire to think something is wrong...

I don't think its because of the way you hooked it up, IIRC on the 00+ it will get the random security light periodically because the aeroforce is constantly scanning the data bus.. I'm not 100% on that but I remember reading up on that somewhere.

You should find out what line you tapped into.

Not true.

acutally it is, I contacted Aeroforce, and on the Newer cars 02+ this is a known issue, and they told me almost exactly what Mick posted. Its actually in the Newest Version Instructions

Aeroforce recommended that the scan rate gets set down under 3, and i have, my car still does it, i have learned to live with it

Doesn't the newest Aeroforce draw current through the OBD port?

i was sitting here thinking about this... and on a whim i decided to check my wiring. turns out i did tap a yellow wire, even after thinking beforehand not to :bstooges:

I then tried a gray striped wire, which set a p1626 code, and now a blue wire that seems to work fine. we'll see if the security light still comes on. if not, doesnt sound like its a big deal.

it dosnet matter if its a yellow wire, there are tons of them in the car

it matters if the harness loom was yellow

To dredge this back up, I have mine set a 3, with no issues, on my 03.

old thread.. I don't notice this anymore since i installed my aftermarket HU. I didn't buy the expensive harness, so i have no door chimes, and if it just flashes for a split second i don't even notice.

And yes, some draw current from the OBD-2 port, they have a jumper on the back that mine does not.
