outside heated mirror question?

Post by JEFFSSSEI »

maybe dumb question...but the little heat icon in the lower right (inside) corner of the driver's mirror...is that an indicator that is suppose to light up when the heater is on? :helpsmilie:

No. It's just and etched symbol to indicate the glass is heated. Not all Bonneville mirrors have this option.

Yes, it kind of doesn't make sense. The SE did have a leather, heated seat option but did not ever come with heated mirrors (that I'm aware of). I believe the SLE came with heated mirrors but did not necessarily have heated and/or leather seats. Trying to figure out how manufacturers come up with options and option packages sometimes gives me a headache.

I agree. If you're already heating the mirrors why not the seats? My SLE has both luckily.

Maybe it just shows the dysfunctionality of GM at the time?? Mine is a weird SE with heated cloth seats but no heated mirrors. Not a problem for me (even though the driver's heated seat doesn't work). Options lists can be stupid to comprehend

GM was in tatters when these cars was in production. My '03 Yukon has been one of the biggest disappointments I have ever owned... Engine runs great now after having $1500 of engine wiring reworked.... then hard brake lines had to be replaced front to back... then the fuel pump went aand found the steel ring holding in the assembly was rotted away... My 93 GMC Suburban was rock solid... They cut so many corners in the early to mid 2000's... The only reason I bought another Bonneville is it is hands down my favorite family friendly body style from GM and my 02 I took apart and put it back together twice so I know the layout very well. So far this one is much better than the 02... but I am just a month into it :D
2002 SLE "Frankenbonnie" 02 engine, 04 transmission, and a 03 PCM to make everything talk. Sadly I know longer own

I was under the impression that the mirrors turned on with the when the defroster button was turned on. I don't have heated seats in my SLE, but I'm pretty sure the mirrors are heated...
A temporary fix does not exist. It becomes a solution until it needs to be fixed again.

Yes, they do. However, it does seem to make sense that if you have heated seats, you may live in a cooler climate and heated mirrors are also a good idea. GM didn't see fit to put heated mirrors in everything that got heated seats.
