1997 Oldsmobile 88 steering shaft replacement issues
Does anyone have advice on how to replace the steering shaft that goes between the column and the rack and pinion? Tried to replace the shaft and absolutely can not get the shaft to slide back on to the shaft coming out of the column. I'm just wondering if the column needs to be removed in order to do so. If so are there any special procedures as it is a floor shift car? Thanks

The intermediate shaft, which is has the universal joints, is clamped to the shaft of the column and the shaft on the rack. The bolts have to come out all the way, and then need some persuasion (pry-bar, hammer, etc).
