Cigarette lighter

Hello I have a 2000 ssei Bonneville need to remove the cigarette lighter plastic bezel any advise appreciated thanks

Well, these are quite the treat. You need to remove the metal insert portion before you can remove the bezel. To remove the insert, there is actually a special tool. You can do it with a couple of small screwdrivers or similar tools and a whole lot of swearing. Basically, the tool is inserted and presses outward on two plastic tabs accessible from the walls of the metal insert. With these pressed in, the metal insert pulls out. The metal insert holds tabs in place that prevent the bezel from being removed, hence the full disassembly.

Here's an eBay listing showing the tool. I just bit the bullet and purchased one several years back.

Do you use that tool before or after pulling the cigarette lighter fuse? lolol.
