Crude photoshop, but looking for opinions(Bent 5s installed)

Post by Jfridge92 »

So yes, this is poor photoshop, but I'm trying to get some opinions on the plans I've got for my car this spring. I've got a set of Olds LSS 16" wheels that I got from a member here, they just need tires, hence why they aren't on the car already haha.
I'll likely be putting some 235/60R16 tires on them, that will be decided depending on what kind of performance tires I can get locally.

Anyway, I threw together some crude photos of what the wheels would look like either stock, or if I did a clean spray on the inner spokes to get them not quite solid black, but closer to maybe a darker gunmetal color, and then leaving the outer ring silver, similar to how some of the two-tone mustang style wheels are. No hard feelings on any opinions either way, and I'd likely use plasti-dip as a pre-cursor to make sure they look decent before I painted them, but just trying to get a feeler for what you guys (and gals) think looks better :) Either option will be an improvement over the granny spokes lol

I'll also be pulling all of the trim off of the body and actually re-spraying that matte black, then clear coating it as opposed to the peeling plastidip that's on it now. This is also the current ride height of the car, so no lowering or other weird photoshop on it, just the poor job adding the wheels in haha

My vote is for stock color. In this context the gunmetal grey atrikes me as dingy.

I think you should re-sell them and buy some 17's or 18's lol...

I vote: OEM 17" LSS wheels in gray. Just 1 problem, I don't think anything over 16" was ever OEM. - BC

I'm going to vote swoopies or anything else 17" or 18". The Aztek wheels I put on my '89 might look good.

Thanks for the feed back guys! I'm liking the natural color as well, but my brain couldn't decide if I liked the black or not hahaha. I got these for super cheap, so there really wouldn't be any money made to resell, although I have been scowering craigslist and the upull inventories for cars that have wheels that fit. Oh what I would love to stumble across a cheap set of GXP wheels for it. I may play with the bent 5s in photoshop as well, since those might be easier to track down.

They don't look bad, but the Aztek 5-spoke 17" wheels are perfect for this IMO.

I think they look great in the natural color...but I am probably partial since I used to have them on my car.

I get tired of seeing bigger wheels on these cars. Bonnevilles seem to look great with 18s but I think the Lesabre looks perfect with 16s. In my opinion it's not worth the money to pay for tires and worse mpgs and acceleration. On top of that your speedometer would be farther off.

Everyone is different so do what you like Joseph. Like I told you, let me know if you don't use the LSS wheels. I will gladly buy them back from you.

Most likely I'll get tires for the LSS wheels and sell the Generals with the granny spokea to recoup some tire money since my tires still have about 35,000 left on them. I've already got these in the garage, so I'll likely get them on and keep searching for wheels at the junkyards, but there really are a lack of H body's, and recently a lack of mustangs to snag wheels from too hahaha. I like the way these look, but of course there will always be better looking ones :)

I like the look of the stock color LSS wheels on the LeSabre. Does your car have the 2.84 or the 3.06 final drive ratio?

Since you have the higher gearing, and since the stock 16 inch size for a 99 LeSabre is 215/60/16, I'm thinking 235/60/16 might be a little tall. I may be wrong but I think the taller you go with a tire, acceleration goes down. In my opinion I would not go any taller than a 225/60/16 in this situation.

235 is width, the 60 is the height. That shouldn't make a difference as far as gearing goes.

It's a difference of 1.8%. The height measurement is directly proportionate to the tire width (60% in both cases).

Yep, it is. I just put on 235/60 r16's on the SE. The car sits about an inch or more higher. Makes it easier for me and the boss lady to get into and out of the car. - BC

Hey Jon, does that offer to buy them back still stand? I found something at the upull today that I couldn't pass up. Let's just sayx what do an 03 ssei and an Aztek have in common ;) zero chrome bubbling too!

1 of 4, haven't even cleaned them yet, but once I get tires on them I'll give them a nice scrub and shine. Image

Not sure what I'm going to do about the center cap though. Are there any buick wheels that have a cap that fits these?

Ooo! I've got 20ft of carbon fiber wrap left over from doing my interior bits. Do you have a pic of them Matt? Also, do the center caps just pop out with a flat head?

Center caps should be pushed out from the back side by hand.
